There are "substantial" problems with alcohol abuse, spousal abuse, domestic violence, incarceration rates, school attendance, etc etc etc

Wake me up when indigenous communities accept any responsibilities for their problems and bear in mind that I advise one of the richest tribal councils in the world.

These people receive more than $30 million p.a. in royalties from mining and had "lost" more than $90 million before I came along

Sad thing is that the young people in this community dont care and simply play the race card card whenever anyone questions them

I am no SJW, quite the opposite in fact - I'm a Trump guy.

        But...

The Native American Indian's and the Aboriginal people were well and truly shafted by the white man.

Controlled and sedated with alcohol and marginalized as second class citizens for life.

He can do whatever he wants, he can't be forced to sit or stand... whatever and he already beat Green like years ago, am sure he would make more money when people now feels they want him to lose this buying this sheet fight.

              Couple of things.

              1) I agree with you on the taking responsibility thing. No one is forcing them to Abuse alcohol et al there are billions of people everyday that make a choice not to do those things. As Robin Williams once said "I am waiting for a kid to go on Dr Phil and say "Mom is cool, Dads great, I'm just a **** up.""

              2) Do the communities get a share of the money or does it go to like one Family who represent all the people?

              3) And the young folks situation is not just isolated to Aus. A lot of poor communities (disproportionately non white) suffer from the same form of apathy. My wife used to teach at an under privileged school and asked her class what they wanted to do when they grew up and the one kid said "Well when i am 18 i will apply for my government grant and then i will pop out a couple of kids and get a grant for each of them."

Totally agree that it is not a problem isolated to Australia as it is prevalent the world over.

Unfortunately many governments are ignoring the issue and simply throwing money via welfare at vocal ********** in an attempt to make the plethora of social problems go away

The tribe in question is administered by a council made up of tribal elders

Basically their job is to oversee the contract with the mining company, manage the royalty stream and (hopefully) safeguard the interests of their people & their lands whilst preserving their cultural heritage

They are also charged with building necessary housing and social infrastructure

In terms of individual fund distribution, relevant parties are able to make application to the council for grants

In practice, most applications are just attempts to get their hands on some money with little intention of using it for the stated purpose

From my experience, most of the elder generation are lovely people who genuinely have the interest of the community at heart.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for many of the younger ones who are consumed with self-entitlement and racist beliefs.

But that is the problem with the "Younger" (I am part of it since I am only 32). The issue of entitlement is a huge problem among young people. The youth of today need to take responsibility for their lives and one of the things I think feeds the problem.

I am also under no illusion that "White Privilege" is not a thing. It is especially in countries like South Africa. I take my wife (Who is white) out for dinner and she gets called "Ma'am" or "Miss" and I get addressed as "You" by the staff.

Where I cannot relate to places like Australia or US the is that in South Africa the white population make up 8% of the people of the country and yet own 90% of the wealth of the economy. And through institutionalized racism marginalized 92% of the population based on Colour, Language, Religion, tribe. Hell it eventually got so bad that white folks were marginalized based on what language they spoke (English or Afrikaans) and then even further if you were a white Afrikaner into what church you went to (Apostolic Faith Mission or Dutch Reform Church).

That was how the ones in power stayed in power. Because if the population are busy fighting each other they are too busy to actually realize that if they all banded together they could topple a government.

Sad (and shameful) if that is still happening

SA should be one of the world's greatest and richest countries but IMO has been hamstrung by governments (both white and non-white) acting in self-interest rather than for the good of the people

"White" Australia's relationship with our indigenous people is slightly different in that we seem to think that giving them massive handouts is the answer when history has proven the opposite

I dont pretend to have an answer to our problems but would have thought that asking them how & where they want to live should be of primary concern to both parties.
