Comments Thread For: Froch: I Think Gennady Golovkin's Best Days Are Behind Him

Retired super middleweight champion Carl Froch believes IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) is already showing signs of his age. Golovkin turns 35-years-old in April, which is why his handlers are trying to keep him as active as possible. Traditionally Golovkin fights about three to four times per year. Last year his team was very disappointed, because Golovkin only fought twice.

i understand where he is coming from, but he cant use age as the only factor. Golovkin with his 35 years hasnt taken very much damage in his fights. He was never in wars like for example Salido or Froch himself was. The only shot I can remember that did remotely damage was Brooks uppercut. That's it.

Froch on the other hand was in tough fights against Pascal, Kessler (2x), Taylor and Groves.

Yes with such a !long amateur career behind him. GGG is way past prime. But still too good for anyone.
Why his peers are afraid to fight him when hes seen better days must make them real chicken

GGG is ultimately gonna be remembered as a "what if" and/or "what could've been" guy. He spent a lot of good years toiling in obscurity because of a bad promotional deal. And once he broke loose from that, he's wasting whatever is left of his time on top in a poor division chasing guys that don't wanna fight him. And even if they did/do fight him, its not gonna do a whole lot for his reputation anyway.

Golovkin i would say has not even reached his prime....ok he took a few digs vs brook but that only managed to irritate him and bring the monster out in him, if he is past his prime i guess that shows just how good he is and how weak minded the other champions are by not facing him....in my mind golovkin has two good years in his prime yet and even when he starts to go over that hill...he still smashes 99 percent of the fighters in his weight class.....froch needs to either face him or let his envy go because he can't seem to get him out his head

Did Lil G sneak in and get a piece of Rachel when Froch was out chasing rainbows or something? He better hope he never runs into lil g on the street because he has been talking a lot of smack about the man.

He even stated that he didn't try 100% against Brook because he knew Brook wasn't a real MW and when Brook hit him, it reinforced the fact that he wasn't going to be able to hurt him.
