I could understand some apprehension given that he's only had one low level tune-up. These days they fight too rarely to justify an easier fight though. If he fought 4 times this year, then sure, take a guy closer to the fringes of the top 10. But that's not going to happen, so a real opponent is the only way to go.

I don't get what Schaefer is saying. When does he think Mikey is going to fight someone better? He's been fighting guys someone already beat and was getting an average of $950K already when he left Arum.

When he left TR it's at a time when everyone thought Haymon is sheltering, protecting and overpaying fighters. It was reported that his brother Robert was angry at Ariza for influencing Mikey to leave Arum. Now Mikey has something to prove. He thinks he's the next SRL or Duran and worth millions of dollars.
