Of course, this is all hype BS. Zlaticinin has bad speed, limited stamina, short reach, and he does not have elite knockout power. He's 32 years old and his KO% is under 70% and who has he fought? Huge, huge red flag. All he has is a puncher's chance vs Mikey but Mikey is the bigger puncher. So uh.... what matchmaker thought of this one again???

Hell, Zlaticinin could not even get Ricky Burns out, only knocked him down once cold in the 1st, all the rest of his shots didn't even wobble Burns. Zlaticinin also got caught with left hooks coming in all day to the head and body and Mikey has a great left hook. Make no mistake, this was another carefully selected opponent. Mikey will find a good fight when he faces someone with speed and power, or at least someone his size with similar power. Lucas Matthysse is about the same size as Mikey, and Matthysse does not have elite speed, but he would have given Mikey a real fight. Zlaticinin compared to Matthsyse has shorter arms, less speed, less stamina, and way, way less one punch power. So why act like this is a dangerous opponent?

I mean, Zlaticinin knocked Burns down once. He knocked out what's his name, one name prospect opponent, that's his claim to fame. So if Mikey turns out to be chinnier than Burns, he could get knocked out like the prospect. But the thing is Mikey is way bigger than that prospect and he's built like a tank, you can tell he has a chin, so I don't see a ton of danger here for him to be honest. I hear lots of hype. If Schaefer truly told Mikey not to fight this guy, then I can't imagine what Schaefer and Haymon advise their fighters about the top threats, like imagine a prime Pacquiao. I think we are getting a window into what the talks with Floyd may have looked like back then. "DO NOT FIGHT THIS GUY FLOYD." Lol. I can definitely see it.

I'm not going to crucify Schaefer for saying such thing. He's promoting the fight. The Mares/Cuellar, which he promoted didn't do well in the ratings. So...

          But I'm rooting for Zlaticinin.

This is one of the big thing that Schaefer does that makes him a master promoter. He's done this "I think it's too dangerous and he shoulda picked someone else" tactic to the media. It works though.

This right here ladies and gentlemen, is the reaction RS wants. If you can't see his comments have ulterior motives, then you have been trolled by Schaefer. He's trying to throw himslf under the bus as a coward promoter, while making his fighter look like he's about to fight Goliath.

doesn't matter what he says zlaticanin is still one of the best at 135. its a weak division right now so maybe that doesn't matter that much but garcia has a history of avoiding fights like gamboa so maybe schaeffer is trying to change his image.
