I dont think it is an assumption that he has a "financial interest" in his events. Even if by some miracle he donated all profits to charity or whatever, the simple fact of him contracting a promoter at a set fee automatically gives him a "financial interest" in the event. And a DIRECT interest at that. I just dont see how that can be refuted. And a manager having such a financial interest in a promotional event indeed violates that Act. The language is pretty clear.
Now whether or not the Justice Dept or a court somewhere ever actually DOES anything about it, well thats anyones guess my friend........Comment

What world do we live in when people expect a judge to rule against anybody who is paying fighters more than their opposition?
Prosecution would happen if fighters were getting stiffed Arum - style but this is obviously not the case with Haymon.
******ity abounds.Comment

It's hilarious how these racists want Haymon out the game because he's "violating the Ali act" which is in place to protect the fighters from being robbed. All of Haymon's fighters make the most money yet Haymon is violating the Ali act. How does that work again?Comment

I think GBP should hire Terry Trekass as an advisor... so they can piss away more legal fees and hope and pray HBO increases their budget. #boxingbusinessgeniusComment

he is a licensed manager who has a financial interest in the promotional activities of his clients. The law states that is a no-no.
And its great that Haymon is playing Santa Claus, and being the "irrational player" who overpays everyone and puts smiley faces on their checks, but at some point he will have to transition to being more "rational"
Lets see if the love fest continues at that point......Comment
