Every time a fight like lara foreman or broner granados gets made, not only does an angel lose its wings but boxing fans start watching UfC instead, never to return. Slowly but surely haymon ran boxing damn near into the ground

Showtime has 23 million subs (3rd in the US behind Starz; not sure about WW figure), compared to HBO's 32 million US based subs (1st in the US; 131 million worldwide) for reference. The marginally larger numbers at HBO are really attributable to the larger audience of subscribers at HBO that are boxing fans. Once the Floyd-6 Month plan was up, a lot of people left the Showtime subscription behind. *It should be noted that HBO cards haven't been doing good either. It's been hard to come by the million plus average of the Floyd years).

Additionally the ratings may not be across all platforms as they usually only report the "live" viewers. (most shows average more views than the live number)

I personally don't care as long as we keep getting good fights. Who knows which network will be the place for boxing in the near future, as it is looking like a bad investment for premium networks w/out that big PPV name. That Kovalev-Ward PPV (160k) wasn't a good look at all for the future of boxing on premium cable.

And Canelo left in 2015 too. The two biggest stars in boxing leave your network withing a year of each other and people don't expect lower performance.

It was a good card. People really missed out on some entertaining, meaningful fights.

Hopefully more tune in for Santa Cruz-Frampton II and Mikey Garcia-Zlaticanin.

I get what you're saying but what's wrong with Broner vs Granados?

Besides, I'm a fan of mixed martial arts too and not every UFC fight is a barn burner. Are you suggesting that fans are holding some type of grudge for bad fights in the past? If so, they need to get over it. In America HBO and SHO are the biggest boxing outlets we have and neither are doing that well right now.

They should've just moved this card to Friday. Instead we got one of the worst mismatches of the last 10 years in Lara vs. Foreman.

Anything going up against the NFL playoffs is going to struggle.

It's a shame too, because it was a great card with great fights.

Santa Cruz Frampton last year only drew 480K viewers on showtime. Based on these ratings and the fact the rematch is going head to head against HBO double header with vargas and muira both guys were in the fight of the year 2 years ago and vargas is coming off another fight of the year with salido that drew 833K viewers. No shot that rematch does good ratings. It will do worse then the first fight.

Every time granados stepped up in competition he lost with the exception of imam. He even went to a draw with lanardo tyner lol go look at his record on boxrec its absolutely horrible. 90 percent of his wins are against guys with losing records. Broner shouldnt be fighting rod salka yuri foreman level fightera at this stage in his career, especially since he keeps talking about a pacquiao fight.

As to the second part, fans arent holding a grudge but the many who switched to watching ufc wont even give boxing the time of day even if there is a good fight on. Most of them have been out of the loop so long that they dont know degale badou is a good fight nor do they care.

Oh I don't know. Maybe because he is responsible for airing the two most lucrative bouts in boxing history after bringing on a vast stable that included the sport's biggest star? Successfully reviving the Showtime boxing brand might be a reason? Convincing the parent company to begin airing bouts?

Maybe with that history of success, they're willing to see what he's doing now and whether it works out. Or, gasp, they know exactly what the short and long-term plans are and fully support it.

But let's stick to the NSB mindset. Espinoza was fired 3-4yrs ago. Everyone told me he was about to be. They should fire him again.
