There's been no news about Golovkin or Canelo, so why would Jeff suddenly backtrack from saying Golovkin is favored?

I would bet Floyd told him too, here's why. Floyd, smartly, talks up the fighters that he's beaten. That way he sorta gets credit for their victories. 'Canelo beat x and y, but I beat Canelo, so I would have beat them also.' It's not true because styles make fights, and skill level changes over the years, but it makes sense on the surface.

Mayweather, doesn't want to fight Golovkin, and doesn't want people thinking Golovkin could have beat him if they had fought. If he wasn't so proud he could just say, 'Golovkin is too big, I was never really a 154 pound fighter anyway.' But he's too proud to say that.

So Floyd clearly wouldn't like Jeff coming out and saying Canelo has no shot against Golovkin, because that puts Golovkin, in one sense, on the same level as Floyd. If they can both dominate a shared opponent, Canelo, then it makes a fight between them more interesting.

Floyd just wants to cash out with zero risk, this circus "fight" with MacGregor. And hopefully that doesn't come together. He doesn't want people saying, your own uncle says Golovkin would beat Canelo, why aren't you fighting him instead of this joke?

They claim money, but Floyd v golovkin would be huuuuuuuuuge.

Media would sell that fight like no other. Every boxing fan would want to see it. It's not always two major ppv stars that make Big events. Canelo headlined zero ppv when he first got Floyd. It was huge because the boxing public wanted to know if Mayweather could take him on.

They want none of Golovkin, I don't blame them. But it's ****** that they claim it's not worth it.

They also want to see GGG v Canelo pushed far back as possible. If ggg blows out a prime Canelo, Mayweather would feel like stealing the spot light back somehow.

Jacob said destroys Chevez at 164.5.

If GGG struggles with Jacobs it'd only mean that Jacobs is a lot better than people give him credit for. People tend to disregard anyone who has a loss, even though Jacobs only flashes of any kind of weakness were against an elite Pirog as a prospect, and former champion Mora. Not bad.

However, Canelo will be facing a guy who hasn't made under 168 in five years and looked drained at 168.

Dawson can down to full 168 and was a mess. Chevez is going to 164.5.

I do not want to imagine what Golivkin does to a weight drained Chevez.
lol. someone's worried about their avatar-profile-pic...

LOL Spence was getting his ass kicked in ams by euros while GGG ruled -75 Kg.

Spence hasn't fought a live body.

He fought shot B fighters in Algieri, not even a "prime" B fighter.

Spence is KO waiting to happen.

GGG is much more a boxer than Spence.

Skills? Being black and american doesn't make you automatically a skilled fighter.

Spence is also an offensive fighter but load too much his punches + can't cut off well the ring, GGG is much more patient and polished offensive fighter.

Am pretty sure another issue would be the re-hydration clause for the IBF title (10% i think) on fight night I think. Canelo may of come up short if that was the case.

the end result being, Golovkin did not get that fight

Team Golovkin shat the bed when it came to making that fight the first time around..... now he will have to wait until Canelo is ready, and now he will be fighting a fully fledged middleweight

Mate, this guy is 26 yo, he's had 50 pro fights and won 4 world titles in 2 weight divisions. If he isn't ready for GGG now he never will be.

He and his team are not avoiding Golovkin till Canelo grows up, they're avoiding him till GGG grows old. Big difference.

nah, that is just your "cool story bro", because.....

                    1) lil'G could have negotiated on the weight, like he promised

                    2) lil'G could simply call Canelo's bluff and take the HUGE fortune that Canelo offered him..... much better fighters have accepted much less

Mr " anyone from 154-168 " shat the bed when it came to making that fight the first time around..... and when Golovkin refused to fight Canelo at 155, he determined his own fate..... now he will have to wait until Canelo is ready, and now he will be fighting a fully fledged middleweight.

you are just sulking because Golovkin will not have an advantage heading into that fight

But after the cotto fight those idiots flip flopped and took a hard line stance praying the wbc would give them leverage enforcing the fight right away at 160. It backfired as no belt is bigger then the A side. Now GGG has to wait longer for the fight and by then canelo will be a better fighter and used to the weight and GGG will be older. Getting the fight now at 155-158 (could of negotiated that) or waiting 2 or more years for a fight at 160?...no brainer you take the fight now but like I said GGG has idiots running his career.
