Not necessarily, especially if that 20% of everything also includes the Mexico TV money.

70k people in AT&T Stadium and a PPV that draws even what the Amir Khan fight was said to have drawn (600k-650k PPV buys; $40m-$45m in PPV revenue) and you've got a nice pot already.

On top of that, you've got a showdown that will likely capture every TV in the 120m Mexican nation (with arguably the biggest live cable audience to ever reach Mexico).

Canelo/Chavez is a big money fight with minimal boxing value.

Canelo/Golovkin is a big money fight with serious boxing value.

That's the difference. Oscar may be thinking he can do both fights in the same year and rake in huge stacks of money. That's assuming they're going to actually face GGG, which I doubt, but we'll see.

Cable providers take half the PPV revenue. Why do people think they provide PPV for free?

Mexican TV will be what a few mil?
Isn't the fight supposed to be in Vegas?

He won't walk away with anything close to $15 mil.

$20m-$25m cleared off of the US PPV, with the live event putting in another $10m. To that, you can then add $2m+ from whatever other revenue streams before heading to Mexico.

$40m ($32m Alvarez/$8m Chavez Jr), before even counting a penny from Mexico, is a pretty good way onto the path for $15m.

You aren't counting expenses and GBP cut. Khan got $6 mil and Canelo $13.5, so about $20 mil in purses. How will this get double the amount for the same numbers in America?

Golden Boy's cut, if the numbers put out there are true, are 20% after all expenses.

Between the beer sponsor for the event and the TV rights in Mexico, to air a fight between the two biggest Mexican stars in boxing, likely brings in $10m (which you can add the live cable airing money on top of).

People are drastically underestimating the value of the TV rights for the fight in Mexico, imo.

You're also counting live gate, when Chavez said his 20% is from PPV.

Anybody suggesting otherwise is a dumb ass.
Anyone suggesting that appealing to one demographic who happen to come 50 deep to watch a canelo fight is more lucrative then appealing ing to the general public as a whole with ggg is the dumbass.
