We already saw Chavez Jr. get clowned on by GGG ins sparring.

      Non-competitive fight.

Chavez the human punching bag is going to take a beating from Canelo probably, but he would take an ever worse beating from GGG.

          More to it than that:

"Julio just wants to be treated fairly and like I've always told them, we will sit down immediately after the fight and see if we can come to a deal," Keane said. "But what he will not do is negotiate with a gun to his head under duress. You know what? When you offer a guy $7 million and then you call back five minutes later, screaming, and say the offer is now $2 million, that's a gun to his head."

There is money and there is ego. And when you are dealing with someone who doesn't necessarily need the money...

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Top Rank are no closer to a deal to for a fight with Gennady Golovkin or a contract extension, according to Chavez’s manager. Are the sides parting?

It was at least a 2 fight extension (on top of the one he may or may not have had remaining?). It was either do the 2 fights for 12 to 17 million or one fight for 2 million.

That is why he was able to say to hell with it. In his eyes he was only giving up a 2M payday to be done with Arum.
Considering that Bob Arum was propping Chavez up and making look like a credible fighter when he clearly is not, Bob was a doing him a favor.

Now he is set up to take a terrible beating from Canelo, at a weight he wont be able to make without killing himself.

Bob Arum was making money off a commodity that basically sold itself. He wasn't really doing anything but protecting his own interests and making money off of the name.

I don't approve of the Canelo Chavez fight, or their angle on this this. But, respect due, that was some funny shyt. Seriously clever.

Dumb, ungrateful, entitled. Not something to be defending esp in light of how it played out

Hasn't been selling itself since he left Top rank, must be a coincidence

He making them both money by getting Chavez big paydays for easy fights without him having to take risks.

Name me another prospect that all of their development fights on their own PPV's to build up a fanbase.

Now Chavez is going thrown to the wolves, instead of riding the gravy train Bob Arum had him on.
