    Great fighters are great fighters.

You could take the greatest fighters of all time and you could drop them into any era. They would all have been successful.

You have said that any of today's top fighters would have destroyed any fighter from Dempsey's era. But that statement is completely ignorant.

The best fighters of Dempsey's era were:

    Gene Tunney
    Benny Leonard
    Jimmy Wilde
    Harry Greb

I've done a lot of research over the years, and they were great fighters.

There's no evidence to support the theory that it would be a given that they would be destroyed today.
You think you can drop Ali in the ring against Wilder and he can rope a dope Wilder? He would get his head knocked off

And back then, HWs were smaller. You think Frazier and M Tyson will run through guys like Wilder and Fury? I honestly dont even think they would land a punch
Yet Tyson destroyed better fighters than Wilder. Interesting.

Who said that he would do the rope a dope? Are you really telling me that an unskilled Bum like Wilder would destroy a top 3 p4p HW in Ali? Man this board is going overboard.

I'm not as high on Joshua as some, but it's Wilder who's uncoordinated/off balance. He looks crude at times.

Mike Tyson at his peak would have destroyed Wilder. Wilder couldn't have timed Mike coming in low with his bobbing and weaving style. Mike would have gotten inside pretty easily and ripped him to the body. Wilder's size advantage would actually have ended up being a disadvantage in a fight against a guy like Mike.

Still, how would the more skilled fighter lose to a fundamentally awful fighter? Hearns was bigger than Leonard, yet Leonard stopped Hearns.

Ali employed that strategy due to the following factors:

                    His age

                    Foreman's agressiveness

                    The Zaire heat

Ali at his best would never have employed those tactics.

Wilder would have gotten frustrated and would have been windmilling at fresh air all night.
