I really don't care to hear Stevenson's opinion on matters. He's been completely underwhelming to me with his inactivity and low quality of opposition. Regarding Smith and his two recent victories: while I think Fonfara had hurt him and was going for the knockout himself, it was Fonfara's recklessness and lack of respect for Smith's power that got him brutally knocked out. Smith's power was validated in his brutal stoppage of Hopkins (who is old but always had a good set of whiskers). Smith's game is not a polished one, but it is brutal; you get caught cold with his power and you will probably go to sleep. I don't think his win over Fonfara was a fluke, just a sum of factors creating an outcome.

Obviously Stevenson prefers to fight Ward. Less dangerous. Worst case scenario he will be hugged to UD loss. With Kovalev it could get pretty painful a-la Pascal.

come on now dude. Joe Smith is not anywhere near Stevenson. Stevenson is older and not fighting regularly so he looks stiff at times, but KOing a 51 yr old doesn't mean he's going to KO Adonis.

Of course it doesn't. Every fight is a separate fight. But I have to point out that even at 51 yo Hopkins is harder to hit clean than Stevenson. And if anything, Joe Smith has legitimate one punch power.
