Lucky to be alive. Also lucky to have the NHS.

      Very sad.
Sometimes you think the experts advise against sparring just to cover their back, but get the impression Blackwell could spar if he wanted to but just might not be worth it.
But the expoerts really do know what they are talking about.

        NHS?
Nick has to pay his own fee's
If not he would be on "The waiting list"
NHS Won't be around much longer the way things are going
I got my head opened up with a hammer few years back
Sat in the hospital with my skull on show bleeding to death and got told don't die on US,there's a que haha
They even let me go to sleep
If they do that to somebody who works imagine how they treat freeloaders
        Our NHS is a joke

This is why I feel for him
          Fightings all he knows
Training people obviously doesn't satisfy his need to fight
Hence why he ended up sparring again after the injury
          It will probably happen again
          Sad
          Hope he finds something

            I feel for Blackwell but...

If he sparred AGAINST doctors advice then that was a really ****** decision and impossible to justify.

No insurance company will touch him now, so he could be facing a very hard and expensive lifestyle moving forward.

The NHS is the only reason he's alive.

I know it was very dumb of Blackwell to spar again but the fact that an actual trainer allowed this is absolutely disgusting.

                    This.

Everyone loves to blame the fighter in forums for damn near everything & there is no question everyone takes personal responsibility in their bad choices cuz its not like Blackwell is an innocent bystander in his life. He's at where's he's at off of a bad decision that didn't quite have the Vinny Pazienza-like comeback he was likely going for. But that doesn't excuse that some f#cking moron let this guy spar in his gym (assuming that to be the case, maybe Blackwell sneaked into the gym in some off hours or there is more to the story that I'm missing) & some sparring partner also made a decision to spar a guy with a brain injury. No question Blackwell was the most at risk here with a bad decision, but a few others hold responsibility too & the gym he sparred in should be shut down or face some sort of punishment from a boxing commission cuz these are the type of people who help keep boxing with the perpetual black eye that everyone loves to note.
