I was poor growing up/ Nobody thought I would win / I am an underdog in life / my promoters screwed me/ my folks were addicts / BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH...things are tough all over, this fella wants sympathy from everyone as he cashes 5 million dollar checks.
Never did, just saying Ward is trying hard to sound like a prick just like Floyd did in his whole career.

Except that it was quite natural for Floyd.

      Ward sounds just sounds annoying.

Yeah the rust did show a bit lmao(Ward fought much sooner b4 the fight than Kov)

I think Kov showed Ward he can outbox him and even muscle him a bit on the inside, liked how Kov adapted to Wards hit and hold tactics and his style of coming in with head but he headlocked b4 he could which was smart!

SOG adapted to Kov's style but I'm telling you, in that 12th round when Kov finally went downstairs, Ward wanted NO part of that and that's where Kov can start from where he left off!

If Kovalev goes to the body earlier than last time, Ward will be the one gassing and his movement will slow which opens him up even more than b4 and he still got outlanded!

          Can't wait for rematch

some good points in that post, but I am positive that the bold was part of their plan to nullify Ward's inside game..... they would have practiced that in camp..... so not sure if it is correct to classify that as an adjustment, that was a gameplan

I think it is far more correct to say that Kovalev's gameplan became less effective as the fight unfolded, because of the adjustments that Ward made.

concentrating downstairs will open Kovalev up more

when I said rusty..... Ward was inactive for over 18 months and had not been fighting top-level competition, so if Kovalev was ever going to catch Ward off his game, that fight was his best opportunity..... Ward will be much better with those 12 hard rounds under his belt, and he will also benefit from another 175 camp with Mackie Shilstone.....but the main problem for Kovalev is that Ward just had a real good look at him

I would bet my life that the rematch will not be any easier for Kovalev..... it's all on them now

Interesting points as well, mainly Ward hasn't fought top opponents until Kovalev who i rate highly and even more now after showing he can tangle with SOG(even that SOG would beat lots of top fighters, too smart, skilled and experience).

Going downstairs in 12th didn't open Kov to get hit more at all, it actually afforded him more time to get his bearings(arguably better than using his short hooks when Ward tried to get inside...you know the same one that hurt Ward's left ear in round 9) becuz Ward was hurt when he felt Kov's shots.

I mean the guy can ****ing punch! He was fatigued and still was hurting SOG with jabs and hooks alone, barely any power punches(well in his case his jab can be considered a power punch)

Loved Ward's attitude in that fight and the gutsy call to go inside which benefited him cuz if he didn't he'd got either knocked out or it would've been less competitive!

I think this fight helped Kovalev in his confidence knowing he can hurt Ward with just jabs and that he could fight off the backfoot and let Ward lead to bring him for counters over the top with his jab!

Will be much harder for Kov to land that right I'll give it that, but SOG has to know that when Kov feinted low and saw how Ward reacted he can take that with him into the next fight!

Very High level stuff in that fight between 2 elite champions! Can't wait to see them again
