Dawson said he offered to do all the work because Ward wouldn't meet him at 170.Now Dawson may be lying but since all anyone needs on here is what anyone says in an interview as evidence why not take his word for it. Dawson had to come down a whole weight for the fight, whereas Ward could've stepped up and got another title. Why didn't he? Because he stuck to his own weight class!

Well Dawson said he did it because Ward turned down 170.He also turned down going up a weight for another title to fight the best guy a weight up in what would've been a much better fight. Why didn't Ward go up? Do you think it was wrong that he stuck to his own division? That he didn't concede anything to make the fight. If Dawson had refused to come down would you have said Ward ducked him?

Yes we all know that. We also know that Dawson had to agree to that weight because Ward wouldn't give him a more reasonable catchweight of 170 which he says he asked for. Rather than seize greatness and go up a weight or fight at a catchweight, Ward gave no concessions at all and we only got the fight because Dawson gambled. So Ward wouldn't do what you want Golovkin to do for him. As in jump a whole weight when he makes his own easily to make a good fight.

To be fair, Dawson said that in the heat of the moment after a fight. When it came time to actually make it he wanted a catchweight, but Ward used that statement to make it 168. And to Dawson's credit he moved down and tried.

He was 186 fight night vs Barrera. Thats a decent sized Lhw, about 15lbs above Gggs FN weight for example. Kovalev fight night weights are in that range
