Russian heavyweight boxer Alexander Ustinov (33-1, 24KOs) is still planning to continue with his planned scheduled fight on February 25th in the UK. Ustinov and his manager, Vladimir Hryunov, were hoping to fight for the "regular" championship of the World Boxing Association (WBA) on that February date against either Shannon Briggs or Fres Oquendo.

if Briggs can get past Oquendo then what an ugly, bloody war Briggs vs Ustinov would be,i was excited for Briggs vs Browne but Briggs v Ustinov would be decent, the scary thing for Briggs long term brain health would be the aftermath of him vs the winner of Joshua/Klitshko v Ortiz.

Guy is terrible. They've hid him into a good ranking.

Shannon Briggs has done it again! He's made numerous comebacks throughout the years, fighting a bum of the month and eventually securing a title shot. I think Briggs will beat Oquendo and then Ustinov is also a winnable fight. It's amazing that this guy has got himself into title contention again; through patience, hard work and fighting the least risky opponents - LETS GO CHAMP!!

It really is remarkable that he has done so little the last decade other then get hospitalized by Vitali & has still secured a "paper" title shot. Basically the winner of Briggs/Oquendo & Ustinov are fighting it out for the next mandatory WBA position. I hope they still get rid of the Regular & Interim crap. It really is just the #3,4 & 5 guys battling it out for the #2 spot as Ortiz is the #1 contender. Briggs' best win since his WBO victory over Liakhovich was against Zumbano Love. That says it all there...
