Omg you're too dumb. Those fights did million buys cause they were huge fight, not cause they were joint ppvs lol. Joint ppvs are for mega fights, not fight that'd struggle to hit 100k.

Went from being the most anticipated fight in the sport to a fight no one cares about today.
Exclusive deals are a nightmare for the sport. The fight does still have some possibility of being built back up, if Kovalev defeats Ward and if Stevenson defeats Bute/Alvarez and maybe Gvozdyk in emphatic fashion, big 'ifs' though.

Agree with you on network deals.

I think the ship has sailed. I don't even watch Stevenson anymore. Kov/Ward rematch is the hot fight now.

Its a new year. Maybe things will change.

Stevenson-Williams Jr was very entertaining. Kovalev-Beterbiev might be the next big fight after Kovalev-Ward.

I wonder what the excuse will be this year?

We've had: "I want to fight Hopkins instead"

"I want a purse bid, because I know Uncle Al will would win it and Kovalev can't fight off HBO."

And: "It's Kovalev, so it's got be on Show Time, cuz I know his contract won't let him do that"

              right

and the guy who ducked the purse-bid is completely blameless

              right

using your using brand of logic I see

possibly the only thing worse than multiple sanctioning bodies

don't expect that fanbase to object to anything that is repugnant to boxing SMH

I conceded that Stevenson/haymon was the problem in 2014.
I don't like HBO's exclusivity contracts, but Kovalev's only became a problem making this fight because Haymon wanted it to be a problem. He obviously values Stephenson's WBC and lineal titles more than Jacob's WBA "regular" belt.

Yvon Michel was happy with the deal Stephenson had been offered. He didn't propose a shared PPV while negotiating with Duva, and I presume that was because he knew it would be a deal breaker.
