  • Comments Thread For: Roach: Crawford Was Only Pacquiao Opponent Arum Mentioned

NEW YORK There is only one opponent promoter Bob Arum has discussed with Freddie Roach for Manny Pacquiao's next fight. Roach said Wednesday before a question-and-answer session in Manhattan with Miguel Cotto and James Kirkland that Arum called him two weeks ago to talk about a Pacquiao-Terence Crawford fight. Roach trains Pacquiao and Cotto (40-5, 33 KOs), who'll fight Kirkland (32-2, 28 KOs) in an HBO Pay-Per-View main event February 25 in Frisco, Texas.

I don't see how anyone could reach another conclusion.

how about arum saying manny's next fight will not be against crawford and will not be in the us? How about arum already picking horn as manny's next opponent? Thought about that yet? WHAT WERE YOU AGREEING TOO AGAIN, ABOUT HOW ARUM WANTED CRAWFORD FOR PAC BUT MANNY DIDNT? LOL

So I said, ‘If we do fight him, we’ll fight him at 47 [welterweight]. Bring him up in weight, maybe slow him down a little bit.’ I know he does have a little bit of trouble making 40 [super lightweight], but I think he’ll be maybe not as quick and as good a fighter at 47.” - See more at: http://www.boxingscene.com/roach-crawford-only-pacquiao-opponent-arum-mentioned--112366#sthash.aYwYY5eh.dpuf

Before the Postol fight Freddie was saying PAC can still make 140 & they'll fight him there. After that Postol fight Roach has changed his tune

Look dude, take the Manny cheerleading somewhere else. If this fight happens its as much Manny's fault as it is Bob.

I grow tired of Manny's diehard fans like you switching their position just to absolve Manny of any blame. When he takes easy, crap fights, you guys blame Bob and act like Manny is some ******ed pauper that can't think for himself and is being manipulated. When he refuses to fight, you talk about how brave Manny is and try and blame the other guy for ducking.

Manny asked for a number for Crawford he knew couldn't be met and is now taking a lower paying , easier fight. I watched him do this for almost 6 years. Enough already.

Enjoy the fight! I will not be watching.

Also begs the question If Crawford has problems making 140, why would he demand Manny at 140? Seems fishy.

“The last time I talked to Arum,” Roach said, “he called me up and he told me that Crawford is the guy we’re trying to make and so forth. And he said, ‘You’re gonna have to fight him sooner or later. You might be better off fighting him now. What weight do you want?,’ and so forth. So I said, ‘If we do fight him, we’ll fight him at 47 [welterweight]. Bring him up in weight, maybe slow him down a little bit.’ I know he does have a little bit of trouble making 40 [super lightweight], but I think he’ll be maybe not as quick and as good a fighter at 47.”
                  Roach telling it straight... lol

Those easy you mentioned are Top 3 pound for pound fighter in Bradley at 2014, top 6 pound for pound fighter in Marquez in 2012 and 2011, and former top 6 pound for pound fighter in Margarito and top 3 WElterweight in Joshua clottey. If those are easy fights what do you think is Guerrero, Ortiz, Maidana? in the last 6 years of Mayweather's career?
