When David Frost said, "Muhammad Ali has done it! The great man has done it! This is the most joyous scene that has ever been witnessed in the history of boxing!" after he knocked out George Foreman. Just the way he said it encapsulated the glory of the moment.

Also, Bob Sheridan when Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson, especially the way he kept screaming, "Unbelievable!" after the fight was stopped. He called the ending (and really, the whole fight) with an impassioned zeal, whereas Lampley barely even reacted to the uppercut and his call of "Down goes Tyson!" was so dull and pedestrian by comparison.

I wouldn't call it an iconic call necessarily, but Merchant is the commentator that frequently comes to mind when thinking about memorable lines.

It's been a while, but on my old VHS copy I have the fight with full commentary by Harry Carpenter, and the Quote you posted sounded exactly like that.

BTW on the above vid it says it has the RADIO commentary by Harry Carpenter. Is that correct? Again going by memory, my copy has several long passages where Carpenter is silent. Surely that cannot have been radio.
