aren't you using one of hagler's career defining fights to make your mayweather point here. hearns arguably defined hagler's career, as pac for mayweather. your clearly paralleling here.
and the last statement? so now the excuse is, mayweather was past his peak too...
Mayweather beat a few guys who weren't at their peak but they were still top fighters. Same as Hagler. Same as most ATG's.
Excuse? No. Excuse for what? You said Hagler was past it when he fought Leonard. I agree. As was Mayweather when he fought Pacquaio.

isn't this the same guy who, when he was clearly past it, beat a prime virgil hill @ 175 lbs?..
Just because he went up further and had success doesn't change that.
Beating Hearns at 160 is still a great win regardless.

Why is this thread still going on.
Prime, ATG-level (or even A, for that matter) talent on his resume. That is what he could've done.
End thread.

peak prime fighters floyd beat when he was in his prime: in the lower weights prime, undefeated corrales: not atg material
@ 147 prime undefeated hatton: maybe top 100 on somebody's list
jr. middles please don't say oscar. alvarez is a longshot maybe floyd gets a prime atg with careful matchmaking from oscar but we have to see how his career pans out maybe what, ten years from now i will re-visit this....i'd be willing to throw out the catchweight...

As far as i am concerned, if you are undefeated, and not a heavyweight, there is pretty much no way that you couldnt have done more in your career.
Heavyweights obviously can only fight who they can fight. Anyone below that has the opportunity to keep moving up until they take an L.

Fights an undefeated pound for pound in Ricky Hatton. People were clamoring for the fight. They got it.
Retires
Comes back and fights Marquez. He gets ridiculed over the weight issue (and making Marquez come up two weight classes), yet he didn't beat Marquez by bullying him or strength, he beat him with precise punching and ring movement.
Fights Mosley right after mosley smashes the boogeyman Margarito. Mosley was still on the pound for pound list. People still wanted the fight.
Fights Ortiz directly after Ortiz is in the fight of the year with a rising undefeated star in Berto.
Fights Cotto after he bets the Boogeyman, and this was the fight that Floyd got tested the most and he still came out on top.
Fights Guerrero after he is in the fight of the year with berto, someone who still had promise even after the ortiz lost.
Alvarez does not need to be explained
Fights Maidana after another fight (more so upset) of the year candidate when he smashes an undefeated star in Broner. Then gives him an immediate rematch.
Manny fight finally happens
Berto (meh), but he put on a defensive performance that gets overlooked in my eyes.
So if you look at who he fought and when he fought them I can not understand people (not just you) saying he took on the least challenges.
Cotto is the only one worth mentioning all the other stuff is garbage
