She eventually broke down psychologically probably because she could not defend from that distance. She started to wave her arms and panic.

Its about transitioning to her strengths, as said, getting out of the pocket and using distance properly. One thing I would teach her right away would be to use her back foot. Why square up to take a punch? Sure head movement helps a great deal, but by the time she was moving her head Amanda was moving it for her! Better to angle and shift weight back...put shoulder and an arm in front of you that the puncher has to move around, and giving you time to jab, backfist, or move.

Juggs is absolutely right that ortho boxing does not address the full spectrum of transitioning into shoots and throws.
Thats the common mistake ppl think you need a famous trainer . Basic boxing is not a secret skill and a good trainer can help but they also need the fighter the myth a great trainer can turn anyone into a champion is bizarre bc you need the fighter to go with it . Having a smart coach and trainer in the physical work in MMA goes a longer way if they know the MMA game . A striking based fighter will get more out of Roachs teachings not a Judo one . Roach would literally need 2 years minimum to readjust her skills bc shes not a natural puncher . You dont think anyone read my previous post do you? lol

I know you and Ray don't always see eye to eye, but I will tell you what I tell him regarding posts and reading them. If five intelligent individuals read it and benefit thats incredible. But at the very least, there will always be a few people who are willing to look at things intelligently and respond in kind. Ironic that Bruce Lee's real hatred was for the people who just accept at face value things about martial arts training. He also felt people were not listening.

She doesn't need to be saved. She needs to come to the conclusion that she isn't a boxer and play to her strengths

I think she's broken mentally she took 2 heavy losses. It will hard to come back from that with any trainer.

Rousey, however, is a naturally, classically pretty woman, and is certainly out of your league.

There is nothing wrong with Ronda taking Floyd up on his offer to learn some things about the art of boxing. To Floyd's credit, he made the gesture in a very non threatening, casual way... he basically put aside any silly bantering and offered to be of assistance. Ronda could thank him for extending himself and there is no pressure, no contracts, just a situation where she could learn about boxing from one of the best.

I think this is far superior than going to a coach, a guy like Roach, with expectations, with certain guidelines about how things are done that are not in line with Ronda's situation and as Juggs said: "Ronda's expectations."

When I trained military guys in my dojo I learned a lot about how the special branches think about martial arts training. It is a myth that, for example, a Navy Seal goes to a martial arts teacher who teaches an officially approved way...

In fact what happens is guys in the service who see action have an interest. They hear through reputation, usually anecdotally, about who has skills. This way has persisted since the inception of martial arts in this country post world war 11! If they like the training they go and recommend it to other guys in their cohort group.

I mention this because even the highest professionals do not go to a japanese Blade teacher (for example) to learn how to use a knife! They go to compare, to up their game perhaps, to see what is out there, etc. Ronda is a professional. She does not need a coach anymore than my military students needed me to officially deconstruct all their training! Intelligent human beings seek knowledge and understanding about what they endevour to master. its as simple as that really!

As some have said here, along with some of us who have had people we trained, to fundamentally alter someone is not a way to start a healthy training relationship. It usually adds to isolation and lofty expectations. Look at Ronda's coach, he cut her off from other training situations...she used to have Gene LeBell, and others constantly around her, sharing understanding.

Getting with Floyd will do more harm for her. I don't know why people keep insisting that she needs to get with Floyd. Floyd is a master at what he does and is extra picky about doing everything the right way. Now this is a good mind set but not everyone can be a Floyd Mayweather. I can already see floyd getting mad and throwing a fit when Ronda does something wrong, which is going to happen, a lot of times.

It's clear that Rousey doesn't have the reflexes for of pure striker and will always be beaten to the punch. Her last two fights proved it. If she would have taken Nunez straight to the ground and arm barred her then we would have not been talking about this. Fighters need to stick to their strengths. Whoever told her that she was a boxer or a striker was mistaken. Dumb move. Time for a new coach, and Roach cannot fix her reflexes.

Apparently I was mistaken (have been for quite some time!)

Earlier in this thread, a poster corrected me, and pointed out this was Jaime Koeppe. After some research - it appears that is indeed Koeppe, and not Carano. Here are some other pictures of her - she is flawless:

Carano still has the goods, doe.

**** lol there are so many pictures that confuse the two! From about 10 yards away, and from those angles, the two look very similar! Heh, there's a lot of pictures of Koeppe, rather than Carano, when you google "Gina Carano ass pics."
