Has he gotten preferential treatment by his promoter and HBO, sure he has. But I don't see the validity of your complaints. He is 5'7 and 1/2 at least, not the 5'6 guy many were claiming. He easily beat Walters, and he easily beat Russell Jr. Now Walters didn't even try to fight, and Russell Jr. is a midget, but both guys have been trashing everyone else, so those are two very good wins that Lomachenko has under his belt. They outweigh the loss to Salido.

His amateur record (he's already ATG in amateurs) helped him to get in position where he could demand from Bob Arum to get a title shot as soon as possible before signing the offer. You can't criticize the guy that he managed to get himself a good contract based on his amateur accomplishments while other fighters can't do this

Loma arrived fast, and took a loss from a seasoned hard veteran. Since then he has been on fire. If anything, he arrived the right way. In 10 years when he gets asked about his career, he will say the Salido fight was the best thing that ever happened to him. He will also say that jumping right back with top reputation was also the best thing. Fighting guys he can learn nothing from will not do anything for him.
