This is not a good post about Lomachenko so get ready. It is my opinion and the opinion of some small amount of others that Lomachenko as been handed things to him way too quickly and no matter how good you are one has to got through "Boxing Boot Camp". At 8 or 9 Pro fights this guy is fighter of the year according to HBO? Look he is fantastic and would get to this status regardless BUT why let him do ot so fast. He must pay his dues as a Pro. Fight 3-4 yeras at De La Hoya, Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Pernell Whittaker and so many long list of great pros who also won Olympic Glory. Yes, if you put any oif one of these guys in big time in his first fight he probably would have done then same and become great real fast. Also he lost to Solido!! I am saying that just because he stuck around as an Olympian and won like 400 fights does not automatically give him a torch to a pro Title Shot in his first pro fight and all this glory he is getting from HBO. YES he is good BUT he did not pay his dues. He is a product of HBO and it;'s promoters desperately needing a HUGE star to make themselves money!!! Now, people are going to post back like but he is so good and all the 400 fights as an amateur he lost like 1. I get it this is all true. The question here to me is Pro fighting has a kind of silent code of ethics on many things. Just because he won these Pro fights is NOT the point. The fact he now great is not the point. This kind of tactic if used again will hurt boxing. Boxing and Boxers have a responsibility to not let someone serve you up the grand plate (which you deserve based on skill But not on Merit and Hard Grinding work. Sorry but I do not understand why we let that happen. Olympic Boxing IS NOT pro Boxing and this makes pro Boxing look bad in my eyes.
Lomachenko Helped out Like No other Fighter

yeah yeah that would all make sense if it wasnt for the fact that he beat gary russell and nicolas walters. So he obviously didnt need 4 years of fighting bums. Showed he only needed minimal transitional experience to be a world level pro fighterThis is not a good post about Lomachenko so get ready. I don't see how your post discredits him being FOTY. He wrecked Martinez and Walters alike. I personally put that above Frampton's wins this year. If you're going to criticize the guy, pick on area and address that because you're failing to make a real point.Comment

You are off on some theory that it's an unwritten law that fighters have to pay their dues to get opportunities. There is no such rule or law and there never has been. Opportunities come when they come but they won't do a boxer any good unless he is good enough to win the fight and take advantage of the opportunity. Loma got early opportunities by being the best amateur boxer in history. He wasn't quite good enough to take advantage of his first title shot and got beat. He has won all his fights in spectacular fashion since then. HBO keeps explaining that their PFP rankings have nothing to do with resume but many people just don't get it. Their PFP. rankings are based on how hard a boxer is to beat in his weight class right now, today. I agree with them that there is no boxer who would be harder to beat than Loma is right now at 130 pounds. If he doesn't deserve his lofty status then someone will have to beat him in the ring and prove it.Comment

So you'd rather see him take the Gary Russel jr route and fight 21 TBA in a row then get embarrassed when you finally step up to a world class fighter?
Beating guys who Barely have more wins than losses doesn't help a guy like Loma one bit... Yes, he lost to salido, but who cares, that guy is a world champion fighter and Loma seems to have gotten better every fight and making a guy like Walters quit the way he did was very impressive...
Besides, Loma doesn't want to fight bums, he wants titles and big fights, that's what us fans should want. I have zero interest in great fighters fighting meaningless fights, we get that enough as it is.. Kudos to anyone willing to test themselves regularly and especially someone with so little pro experienceComment

Olympics are not the pros, but he did win two gold medals. I mean, we know the sport has been this way all the way back to the 60s. A long list have been given opportunities early and great promotion from what they did in the amateurs. I really have no problem with it. It's like going to college before you enter a job. Sure, college is not the job or the real world per se, but you know more going in and usually get paid more because of the time you put in where the others competing have. This is why a lot of guys like Duran and Chavez had so many fights. They basically had no amateur careers. So they had to build up solely off pro fights. Loma paid his dues in the amateurs. He deserves the opportunities. Besides, he's getting these big fights but he still has to go out and win them. If he's willing, so be it. So many mismatches these days anyway. And there's something to be said about staying in the amateurs for long enough to win two gold medals. This is not a good post about Lomachenko so get ready. First thing - saying he shouldn't be a FOTY candidate because he's only had a handful of fights, doesn't make sense. It's about what you do in a calendar year, not what you've done in your career.
Secondly, he hasn't been handed anything. He got matched based on his talent level - and has proven he's worthwhile. This whole "pay your dues" thing is ridiculous - there is zero value in him feasting on cans for three years. If bumfights make or break Loma in your eyes, you're not the kind of fan worth impressing.
Besides that - he paid his damn dues anyway. His amateur career is extensive, he did his apprenticeship. You can't punish him for being good.Comment
