Open post doesn't make sense. Fighting your way up is not just about paying dues, it's about developing skills and proving you can compete at a high level.

Loma was upheld to this standard when he was denied an automatic title shot in his pro debut. He fought a ranked contender, stopped him, and proved he was ready for a title shot.

If anything, he could've done himself a disservice by rushing in and getting destroyed at the top level. But that wasn't the case, which means making him waste years fighting guys with losing records would've been a waste of time and talent, on top of robbing boxing fans from witnessing his full potential.

I think he has shown that some fighters don't need to feast on bums for 4 years before fighting good opposition.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not expecting other fighters to be stepping into world title fights after 3 pro fights, but there's plenty of fighters that are getting paid to beat up journeymen for 25+ fights before fighting a live opponent when they could/should have already made that step up long before.

There's no such thing as a boxing boot camp and paying your dues, if you're good enough then so be it. Let's be honest, if he had come into boxing and was fighting against journeymen and poor opposition still, people would be saying he's wasting his career, being mis-managed etc etc. as they do with Rigo.

You can't win either way. If he's good enough to be beating good fighters, then what's the point in having him "pay his dues" against lesser opposition? it would serve no purpose.

so do you think Martinez and Walters are better than Quigg and Cruz??

So we cry about fighters fighting bums, and now we cry about fighters going for glory fights right off the bat?

How ****ing idiotic. Maybe Rigo should have fought Donaire in his 30th fight.

There's something that you got to understand is that Lomachenko has a mainstream look. He will get pushed harder.

Fights with him will automatically sell more, so he will get handed title fights more easily. People are more likely to give away their titles to him because of the money.

Around equal. Martinez has more losses, but has faced much better comp than Quigg. Walters has 1 big win, as does Santa. Thing is, Frampton did not have an easy time with either Quigg or Frampton. Loma completely worked over his comp. If we were going on name value alone, Ward walks home with it for beating Kovalev. But, taking in consideration how the fighters looked in their fights, Loma takes it over Ward and Frampton in my book. All those guys are fair candidates though, IMO.

And Salido also turned down the rematch with Loma as well. He knew Loma would tax that ass if they fought again so he wanted none of that. I honestly thought that Russell would be able to push him but Loma picked him to pieces, EASILY. That was the fight where I realized this guy is the real deal, as elite as they make em now days.

NOW we're talking! I think I can get on-board with Loma in the first pic. But, the close cut Loma... no. Just not working for me. I pretty much entirely base my loyalty to fighters based on current hairstyle.
