A worthy winner even if he did duck Rigo in my book.

Two world titles at two weights against two undefeated top 3 world champions, one on Road.

A lot like to cr4p on Scott Quigg but that kid can fight and is a handful for anybody at 122 or 126.

Since this writer has no problem taking that win into account, then Ward beating Kovalev in a close contest trumps everything Frampton has done this year. And Frampton didn't exactly dazzle against Quigg either.

Also we should not forget that Frampton left the super bantamweight divison without facing the man. That ducking was shameful and that's a big minus for me. Fights against Quigg and LSC were certainly good business moves, therefore Businessman of the Year might be a more appropriate award. Unlike Frampton, Crawford and Ward -two potential winners- actually had the stones to fight their biggest challenges. Ducking pays dividends I guess.

Having Frampton as Fighter of the Year is not scandalous, but implying that he's some sort of consensus Fighter of the Year is just wrong.

And last but not least, not having Crawford in the honorable mention is mind-boggling. Became lineal champion and has three dominant wins including one against the best opponent he could have fought.
I have to agree with this

Crawford took on his main rival and dominated him, becoming basically undisputed. Frampton sc****d past two also-rans while shamelessly swerving his greatest challenge. He's absolutely no better than Canelo, who has been rightly crucified this year

From previous discussions, I am obviously in the minority of thinking Frampton should not get it. Ducking Rigo is terrible after saying he would fight him. He hasn't determined he is the best at either of the divisions he has fought at. Imagine this: Canelo beats Liam Smith and then moves up to 160 and beats BJS for his title. Is he a FOTY candidate? HELL NAW!?!..... Loma, Bud, or Ward would have been reasonable. I can even see Smith. But someone who avoided a fight right in front of them won't be praised by me any time soon. Fight the best and the money, fame, and prestige should follow. Avoiding competing against the best shouldn't...

Boxing Scene, ESPN, and Yahoo Sports have went with Frampton so far. It will be interesting to see if anyone breaks trend.

People are confusing 'taking on your biggest challenge' with 'how you actually looked' .

122 was a hot division until LSC, Frampton and Quigg all moved up. 126 is now probably a top 3 division in boxing.
Quigg was rated 4 at 122 and LSC was rated 3 at 126. Your case about Smith and BJS is void. Smith was rated at 8 I think at 154 and BJS is 3 in a weak MW division.
Final thought - this is controversial because there is no standout candidate for FOTY - due to a relatively poor boxing year. Crawford, had he fought and beaten Broner instead of Molina would have clinched it.

Both of his fights were on the road, as Quigg often fought in Manchester.

I also have a big problem with people saying he 'ducked' Rigo. Rigo destroyed his own career, don't go around blaming Frampton for 'ducking' him.

Kind of feels weird giving it to him when he wouldn't fight Rigo but at the same time there was no money in it and he moved up in weight so you can't really blame him

this is laughable, he had a good year, but no Crawford? And kov who looked terrible before the ward fight and lost the ward fight despite what everyones emotion is; is above ward????? Frampton needs to stop ducking Rigo!
