I think he needs to fight more frequently but he's on a good path.

The Garcia fight will do huge viewership, probably the top non-PPV #s in a long time.

yeah i get the impression that people see spence/crawford and not thurman as the future of the division. Spence and crawford look tremendous so far, dont get me wrong, but thurmans also a top fighter himself, and has got a top win at welterweight in porter. Even if thurman does come unstuck, hes still got the style and the personality to be an attraction

Garcia winning is not an "upset"..in fact I see it the other way around since I view Garcia as the favorite going in, he has the stronger resume of the two. but like you said 147 is stacked..if he beats Danny on top of Porter that makes him top dog, but for how long..Spence is coming.

There's several guys that should be getting turned into stars and I feel as if the promoters are just telling them, "Ok, now you go get it!", rather than building stars like they used to. HBO still does this to an extent but they can only do so much.
The entire Garcia-Guerrero show averaged more than the entire Thurman-Porter show. For the fights themselves though, the Thurman-Porter fight peaked at 3.94M and averaged 3.1M while the Garcia-Guerrero fight peaked at 3.5M and averaged 3.0M.

Only way he can become a true superstar is if he beats Garcia, then Floyd comes out of retirement and thurman decisively beats him as well. Or if he somehow gets a Pacquiao, canelo, or cotto fight at the end of the year and beats either of them impressively. The chances of either of those scenarios happening are damn near impossible though

Realistically, he can become a relatively big name with a win over Garcia, and then a win over someone like khan or a Porter rematch or another boxer with a decent name.

Garcia has done NOTHING at 147.

One minute Danny is the most overrated fighter in boxing history and in the next minute he's the key to Keith Thurman's super stardom. I wish you lames would make up your mind.
