Are you guys serious his a white fighter, who fights in a sport which i believe the stats said 70+% of the organized bodies are composed of whites...... The fact is the guy was so overhyped (the ****ing 2005 fighter of the year over JT and PBF)and so exposed(atleast more then anybody would have imagined)that people are beginning to open there eyes even after 1 fight to what may lye ahead for hatton! Take Calzaghe for instance see how he won so convincingly and now everybody respects him (HE BEAT A NEGRO) if Hatton had did the same like expected he would be seeing that same respect!

maybe it plays a small role, but:

I think the real reason is because people had a bit of hate towards the way he was allowed to fight Kostya Tszyu...not to mention that he is seen as a overhyped, overrated fighter.

Look at how HBO gave him all the attention and did nothint on Collazo...I think people get bitter that they don't give both fighters attention...how many of us have experience such favortism?
Now I know it is because Ricky is HBO's new "boy", but a little story about Collazo wouldn't have hurt.

NO no, i completely agree... lol. But i do think color of skin makes an impact. People immidiatly think of Hispanics and Blacks dominating nearly everys sport. People think a fighter cant be excitng unless hes black or mexican. Well hattons super exciting and hes white

Its safe to say he is overrated because he won a close fight?

Now granted, i never said hatton was one of those guys who could be number 1 p4p, but i think you may be being a little harsh.

funny hatton a white guy got the gift decision in boston by 3 boston judges and a white ref
and collazo was a ny puerto rican

and hatton was the hbo fighter with a 3 fight deal

biased decision? thats soooo out of the question

Nah man, Hatton won. That was the sentiment from the crowd as well.

Prior to the fight, those who somewhat favored Collazo spoke, guardedly, only of Collazo's chances of winning; on the other hand those who picked Hatton were mostly sure that Hatton would-- if not take Collazo out-- dominate, even in the face of caveats coming from a number of non-partisans such as Hatton having some difficulties when fighting southpaws and that Collazo was too big and had the handspeed that could spell some trouble for Ricky.

Obviously, Ricky fell short of many of even his own fans' expectations. As for the bout's having been intended to demonstrate convincingly that Hatton is ready for Floyd and/or Oscar, now, or if not now, very, very soon....

Well, Ricky still has some proving to do. The jury is still out.
