I vaguely remember watching a Monagham fight that I think was scheduled for 6 rounds. I thought he was losing the fight with one round to go.... and then all of a sudden at the end of 5, the promoter conveniently tells them to extend the fight to 8 rounds and Monagham ends up winning lol.

anyway does seem like Smith should be trying to cash in on his two wins, but this is a regional matchup and might be able to bring a crowd. Not every fight has to fit into the grand championship scheme...there should always be a place for local matchups like this. begging to be on ESPN FNF but yeah

Monaghan has done nothing in his career to make me think that he'd beat Smith but if this generates local fanfare and gets both a decent paycheck, that's fine. I'd watch it to see what happens.

            Ok, that makes sense.

Makes sense and it will probably be a fun scrap.

Joe Smith has built himself into a name through pure hard work and beating some top level, world class opposition.

Why would he fight a nobody like Seanie Monaghan at this point? Just to give Bob Arum a handout?

Joe should be chasing a world title shot or a nice payday or both. He deserves it.
