This is a step down fight for Smith. They've been talking about this fight, the battle of Long Island, for a while now and Arum wanted nothing to do with it. This was the fight that should've been made on that Seanie, Verdejo, Lomachenko, card earlier this year. Now that Smith got some buzz he wants to make the fight. Smith needs to keep looking ahead instead of looking back. He got a hot buzz right now and he's a legit fight for any of the top LHW's right now. That should be his focus. Not some local club show.
smith has a brand now(harder puncher than kov and adonis). he should continue to maximize exposure, what better event than an all irish st paddys? Taking Seanies 0 isnt that bad of a stay busy fight, keeps the paydays coming and positions him for another big fight after, if he wins (especially by KO).Comment

lol he ain't good, but he's somewhat of a draw in NYC. Bob uses him on NYC undercards to fill seats. Its a decent recipe to make a sold out venue in NYC but no where else. IMO its a good way to keep the Smith gravy train running cause Seanie is a beatable guyComment

I guess if the money is right. I just don't want him to miss out on a good payday because he's earned it. And he's shown to have that power to end a fight. He and Thomas Williams Jr would be an exciting fight and he'd KO Williams Jr. I see Kovalev is #2 now, maybe they can fight an eliminator.Comment

exactly. there are better fights for sure but this one is like a triple win, all irish card helping him gain fans, winnable fight against an undefeated (flawed) fringe guy and If he wins by KO his stock continues to go up along with his brand/bargaining power (3 ko's in a row against guys that never been knocked out)Comment
