People are also milking the Fonfara upset far too much. Fonfara was considered a tough but limited contender, whose biggest claim to fame was beating a woeful looking Chavez Jr (who was also coming up in weight). People talk now like he was a P4P entrant. In fact, Smith looked extremely lucky to land the haymaker he caught Fonfara with. Bottom line is Smith was the lucky one who got the shot at Hopkins. Several other young light heavies could likely have accomplished a similar result last Saturday night if given the opportunity.
I kind of get this feeling as well... I would like to see him against the Barrera, Alvarez, Cleverly, Beterbiev tier to get a feel for how good he actually is...

I'd definitely watch Joe Smith vs Adonis over Canelo- Chavez. I think Adonis is being slept on all because of the Kovalev fiasco but the guy can punch.

I love how people comment on the Fonfara fight having NEVER watched it!!!! It was not a lucky punch! Unless you call it 12 lucky punches because that's how many Smith landed to get Fonfara out of there! A lucky punch is if a guy is caught with a punch and counted out and even then calling it lucky is debatable!

I never seen Joe Smit fight before, but what I noticed in the opening round is he was tagging B hop with shots, he also had much longer reach he has super long arms but also has very fast hand speed.

He is humble and tough from his construction background, a nice entry to the mix, love to see him in with Stevenson or Kovalev.

this exposes the racist double standards for black boxing champions...

Stevenson is the one who won the purse bid and the russian coward kkkovalev pulled out like a coward.... He knows he cant handle stevensons huge left hand thats why his lying **** promoter pulled him out....

Imagine if stevenson pulled out of the purse bid he would get 100 time more racist hate from boxing fans than he already does....

Those same punks already seem to have forgotten kkkovalev pulling out of the purse bid.... How convenient
