Let's be honest here, everyone and their mother will fight Chavez Jr. because 1. he's a name that brings money to the table, 2. is a clearly limited and beatable fighter, and 3. there's always the "he was too big" excuse in case you lose.

GGG is a better fighter who happens to pay substantially less than Chavez Jr. I don't know why that's so hard for JMM, or anyone else to understand. It's a no-brainer.

Im not middleweight yet to fight GGG, but will fight Chavez at 165 - Canelo.

This fight will do less than Cotto vs Canelo, Mexico vs Puerto rico. Only Mexicans fans care about this fight and most Mexicans know Chavez jr is a potato. This fight is nothing to get ecxited about. Chavez jr last fight didnt even get shown on HBO or Showtime, that shows how much people want to see him.

But Jr is less risk than GGG.

I hope it does. Cant really depend on it. He beat Cotto for the WBC Middleweight title Nov 2015 and "said" he would fight GGG "next", but its going to happend Sept 2017, almost two years later, IF it does.

Looks like he's taking what will be a somewhat difficult, yet probable win for himself (while making a ****LOAD of money) to get used to the weight before fighting GGG which will be a little more difficult fight. I'd watch this one.

It is hypocritical and pure bs but lets not act like G himself agreed to fight Chavez at 168 then turned around and said no to Ward a 164 and no to Froch at 168. G refuses to face Lara but fights a second rate WW. Canelo would be ******ed if he has a chance to face Chavez Jr. and doesn't take it. Chavez brings very little skill with him but for whatever reason his Mexican fanbase will pay to watch him on PPV. Canelo fought Lara. Lara didn't have anyone willing to pay to see him fight but was one of the toughest opponents out there. Chavez has one of the biggest fanbases and brings relatively little risk. Its not right, it is boxing. At least Canelo has taken high-risk low-reward opponents in Trout and Lara so go ahead and cry.
