You're a Povetkin fan. You've followed him for years. You love the guy.

The bottom line is, this is called VOLUNTARY Anti Doping Agency for a reason. He ACCEPTED the terms of VADA testing.

Why would a person accept terms of VADA when juicing? It doesn't make sense.

Thus there are only two logical answers: VADA is incompetent (some of their testing that should have busted him a long time ago, didn't) or corrupt (they purposely withheld failed tests until the last minute).
its not "voluntary" if youre fighting for the wbc

Using VADA is an agreed-to situation, in every fight. He could very well have said no.

Would have led to him being stripped, certainly. But better that happen than the many millions he's now lost out on with both Wilder and Stiverne and the black eye on his team.

Whilst I'm not claiming for a moment this is the case, a third possibility, also involving corruption, is that they falsify results.

Or maybe Povetkin was good at hiding his abuse. Listen. Testing is not easy, so you jumping at conclusions regarding vada is ignorant.

              True, it makes no sense.

              Definitely a possibility.

To summarize what's been posted in this thread:

What makes no sense is why the positive result was announced after the weigh-in for the fight.

And Povetkin tested negative 5 times before the positive result.

Something doesn't add up. How do you get busted on a test just before the fight but not tests leading up to it? It's like he juiced the day before the fight - but that wouldn't do anything for him, it takes time to work. Some might use an illegal substance to make weight, but this was heavyweight so weight is not an issue.

Either VADA is incompetent (some of their testing that should have busted him a long time ago, didn't) or corrupt (they purposely withheld failed tests until the last minute). And while I'm not claiming this as a fact, a third possibility that VADA falsifies results.

And if he was using, why did Povetkin agree to VADA? No one was forcing you him to do it, so why even take the risk?
                  These are valid questions.

Great plan, TUE and everything will be fine it worked for yours truly so why can't it work for Povetkin?
                    Very fair analysis by Daggum.

Just refuse to do vada and no one finds out?

                      very odd.
