I get what you are saying man, Canelo vs Chavez is a BIG fight financially. Lots of Corona Beers will be sold and there will be lots of DUI check points in the southwest. BUT Canelo is only popular amongst Mexicans and Mexican Americans. I dont really foresee any other demographic buying into this fight so this again leaves GBP fighters stagnate. IMO, Canelo should be preparing for GGG. Mexicans are going to watch Canelo whoever he faces so this fight gains him nothing in terms of fans just a bigger bank account.

If Canelo were serious hed fight someone similar to GGG in Mexico. If hes the $ draw everyone says he is, hed do just fine. In the long run he beats GGG it does more for him than Chavez Jr does.
OR canelo can beat both a few fights apart.
Maybe canelo can beat the **** out of chavez for 12 rounds in may and then Lil g can knock out chavez in 8 rounds in September. That way maybe Lil g can grow his name more and we have a true mega fight in may 2018. Only down fall is that Lil g will be 1 year older.

I would love for GB to sign more Brothas and Russians (but the language barrier might cause a problem or two) and not only that to have their prospects fight guys other than Mexicans. They're literally doing what haymon is doing last year which was just get some mexican cab driver to fight one of his guys. Worst part is his guys werent even prospects

This was a long time coming so it's natural for it to happen when all things were in the right place again.
I agree, I think it wouldve been an awesome fight many moons ago but I think that ships sailed. Did you see Chavez Jr.'s last fight? Chavez couldnt even crack an egg. That come forward, no power, volume punching has become an eye sore. And its further irritating to hear it being called "Mexican Style". I just was hoping Canelo was focusing on the task at hand and thats GGG, fighting a big oaf like Chavez Jr. Canelo gains 0 experience and runs a risk of Chavez falling on him or something.

How the heck does fighting Horacio Garcia prepare a young fighter for the speed of Gary Russel? You mean to tell me there isnt a showcase tune-up type opponent against an AA, African, or Cuban thatll prepare him for speed? Gary Russel probably has one of the fastest hands in boxing if not the fastest. I just think Golden Boy is selling his guys short career wise putting them in with this level or style of opponent. To be elite you have to be able to adapt to all styles. As for a guy like Chavez Jr. he in no way prepares canelo for GGG, big fight, big $$$, but lets see how much $$$ Canelo and GBP makes if GGG mangles Canelo. Give a guy a fish he eats for a day, teach a guy to fish he eats for life.
I think they feel JoJo is already ready and just needs a stay busy fight before he get's his mandatory title shot. This is a showcase fight for HBO viewers and a stay busy fight more then anything. Some fights are made for experience, some made because of money, some are made just to stay active, some are made to climb up rankings to earn a title shot, ect. JoJo is either going to sink or swim when he get's his title shot. If he loses when that happens we can second guess how he was built up but premature IMO to do that now.

Canelo fighting Chavez ain't about getting ready for GGG. It's a prize fight and he brings a big prize payday. The fight will sell it's a natural rivalry and easy PPV sell to fans. Hell I am of the opinion it will sell more then GGG. And you are going with the assumption that without a GGG type opponent Canelo get's killed by GGG. What if Golden Boy feels Canelo already has the style and experience to beat the brakes off GGG and are just waiting until GGG accepts their offer and fight terms?

              This is a ****** thread.

Golden boy has a ton of mexican fighters so it's only natural that they fight each other. I don't understand how Mexican has anything to do with it. If their is a good matchup than make the fight, mexican or not..???

It would be like saying Haymon should stop fights blacks against blacks...makes no sense.

You are basically saying Golden boy should go out of its way to protect Mexican fighters. ******

Taking the Chavez fight leaves Golovkin with nobody that can earn him $5+ mil other than Canelo. The less alternatives the more likely he'll take Canelo's offer. That's what we all want isn't it?

If you're Mexican this fight is huge, it's on their holiday whinthe fück are you to deny them ? Besides I tire of watching Brits getting knocked out cold this year, I'd like to see Chavez Jr. knocked the fück out this time.

That's what you want, GGG vs Canelo is a mismatch I want Golden Goose Gennady to push himself and challenge at 168 then ultimately down the line face Ward at something like 171-172 establish if GGG really can beat the p4p no.1.

Whatever he does, he isn't going to get a fight with Canelo till Sept 17th 2017, at the earliest. Oscar keeps saying that Canelo wants to fight GGG more than anything else, and it's easy to see why. If I was Loeffler, I'd and tell him 50/50 or **** off.
