2+ mnts in jail for disorderly conduct and damage to property is nonsense. Order him to pay a fine, damages to the shop owner and give him some community service. Is there more to this situ? Did he assault the shop owner? Because he should not be getting 2 months for taking his car and damaging equipment, meanwhile Conor McGregor and ate Diaz get fined for throwing bottles and full cans of liquid that hit and injured children and other pedestrians.

Sounds really severe for what he did. Reading about it it sounds like lied to the police about some stuff, and might have given some attitude somewhere during the process, hence the judge comments of 'not above the law' and the relatively harsh sentence.

being black will get you off the hook a LOT in america, almost a legal status half way between minor and adult

still seems a bit too much doing jail just because of what happened at the shop. I mean, you break something, you get a lawsuit and you pay it.
