Yeah. Honestly, Ward could retire and likely go down as an ATG. Doesn't matter if he has an unpopular and ****ty decision over Kovalev.
If he rematches him and beats him cleanly, then I'll have all the respect in the world for him, but I expect Kovalev to be more aggressive and edge out the rematch, leading to a trilogy.

Have you heard Kovalev's recent interview?

He said by the 5th round his "tires were deflated and was fighting off sheer will power".

What does that mean? Ward's body shots took a toll. Ward would stop Kovalev in the rematch, but it won't really matter because people will make lame excuses on why Ward stopped him (i.e. holding, ref cheated) and then immediately start talking about Stevenson and Beterbiev

Except Leonard already beat Hearns, Duran and Benitez leading up to controversial fight, Ward beat Froch, Kessler and Allan Green, now wants to retire after a tough fight with rematch clause. One guy was a household name, other guy has never come close to selling out his hometown arena

How much is Kathy Duva getting paid to promote PPV's that bomb?

Whatever the amount is, it's too much. Kovalev should consider giving that money to a competent promoter instead.

Ward beat Froch, Dawson, Abraham, Kessler and Kovalev. Very impressive resume that's ATG debatable.

If boxing was a popularity contest, Mayweather would be the GOAT... Being that it's not, I could really care less how many tickets Ward sold.

But since we're on the topic, you say Ward couldn't sell out his own arena, yet you were the first one begging Ward to fight outside Oakland.

Anyway, Ward beat Kovalev. And guess what? 50 years from now, Ward's victory over Kovalev will coincide with the likes of Leonard over Hearns/Hagler. And guess what else? It's nothing some guy named Herobando can do about it.

Duva the Couga knows whats up. Kovalev's going open up a can of whoop azz and win again.

Scratch that, Kovalev's not going to just to win, he's gonna kill him.

I don't know that Floyd would be the goat. Boxing was much more relevant back then, these guys were mainstream stars worldwide.

There ya go, you list average SMw Abe and hopeless at Smw Dawson among his best wins. One Hof scalp, the not so talented battler "swerve Ggg like the plague" Froch. Maybe Kovalev gets there, and that was a highly disputed win. That's why the SRL legacy argument fails.

He's retiring because he knows that's the only way out of a rematch clause
