I haven't but neither have you. The fact is that there is indeed a rematch clause in place and when that is in place there's usually stipulations that are agreed upon prior to signing.
Where do you keep getting that Kov received a 60/40 split in his favor? Its mine and pretty much everyone else's understanding aside from you that Kov received 2mil while Ward received 7mil for their fight.
Explain how given those figures that Kov received the lions share?Comment

Can you post a link to the specific fighter payouts and specifically what the rematch clause states or no?I haven't but neither have you. The fact is that there is indeed a rematch clause in place and when that is in place there's usually stipulations that are agreed upon prior to signing.

I'm not privvy to anything' simply pointing out the fact that Andre Ward is the champion, and the champion's promoter is usually the one who controls the event.
The fight was a close fight that Sergey Kovalev lost; if you want to keep ignoring that reality, so be it.
With the three belts around Andre Ward's waist, Ward/RNS are going to call the shots.Comment

You're the one stating that Kov made a 7mil guarantee while Ward made 5mil, when even Kov's own promoter acknowledged that Ward made far more than her own fighter because she's not as rich as Jay Z and couldn't offer Kovalev money that wasn't realistic.
Ward will be making a purse of $5 million in guaranteed money compare to just $2 million for Kovalev, according to ESPN.com. Ward is getting almost three times the amount of Kovalev despite the fact that the Russian fighter is a three-belt world champion and Ward just the ring rusty challenger, who hasn’t done much in the sport since 2013.Comment

Now of that 5 mil that ward made, how much came from RN instead of the fighters pot? You're the one stating that Kov made a 7mil guarantee while Ward made 5mil, when even Kov's own promoter acknowledged that Ward made far more than her own fighter because she's not as rich as Jay Z and couldn't offer Kovalev money that wasn't realistic.

Aside from taking on the toughest test of their respective careers, this will be the first time Ward – who will make a $5 million purse compared to Kovalev’s $2 million – has ever fought in Las Vegas. And it’ll be the first time either fighter has headlined a PPV card.

Now you do know that the purses are guaranteed by their promoters right? The splits only involve ppv revenue.Comment
