Is daring to be great frowned upon now?

Fighters who challenge themselves and go above and beyond seemed to be slammed and ripped apart on here. While fighters who do the bare minimum or even less are praised... WHY??? Is is BAD to challenge yourself and see just how great you really are now??

Fighters are now being called great for beating nothing bit c-class fighters and refusing to challenge themselves by posters who in the same damn breath slam fighters who have fought ATG'S and Hall of famers.. Now i know this site is flooded with clear trolls but damn even media personalities do this **** and give fighters credit for fights that never happened while discrediting fighters for taking real challenges. What is the agenda here?? Is boxing headed in a direction where you talk about doing **** but never do it and still be called great now?

I agree, he dared to be great and people hated him for it so now everyone decides to take easy fights.

Especially in the ring he dared to be great with the running and patty cake punches. Always satisfied to take a decision

floyd never dared to be great. He never fought prime fighters.

He convinced the younger generation that you could almost talk yourself into greatness without a great resume, all you need to do is say it frequent enough, loud enough and always play the victim.

No, it depends. For example, some fanbases want their favorite fighters in tough fights, like Ward fans encouraging him to move up and fight Kovalev because no one at 168 wanted to fight him

Brook fans loving his move to 160 to challenge GGG

Khan fans supporting his move up to 155 to fight Canelo

Lomachenko supporters wanting him to fight Pacquiao

              etc.

Then there are other fanbases that have that b*tch ass mentality, they don't want their fighter in any danger, just fighting mandos and clear underdogs. These are the worst, because they rather talk about how the fighter would win those fights, while supporting him babysitting a weak weight class

If you are referring to Ward moving up and fighting the toughest opponent he could pick and getting no props for doing so but GGG fighting Wade and Brook but still commanding an army of loyal fans then I understand where you are coming from.

I don't think this is a general problem in boxing, it's mostly fueled by people who don't follow the sport outside of one or two boxers and who make threads like 'I just found out Kovalev killed a man! Are they keeping this a secret?' and who become too emotionally invested in the few boxers that they follow to admit any faults in them. And we know the deal with the rest of the people who fuel this baloney.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep at night my man. At the end of the day every major boxing organization, writer, historian etc recognizes his resume as one of the best of all time. Nothing you can say will change that reality.
