    Ricky Doesn't Belong at 147

as much as i like ricky and i do think he won, i dont think he should stay at 147. collazo is not a big puncher and hatton has a helluva strong chin. but when a light punching welter staggers a hard headed jr welter, thats an indication that something is out of place.

hatton should vacate the title and go back down to 140 where he can still dominate and still get some good fights in.

Nay bro. I think hatton should stay up. Like he has said many a time, he likes a good challenge. And this was his first fight EVER at 147. He did poorly because he clearly underestimated the weight difference and the fighter. He was looking past collazo, when he should have been looking through collazo.

      A poor showing? kinda.
Will him improve? of coarse. this kid learns extremely fast and he reviews tape like its his job. He'll learn to hold his hands up and do better defence. He'll learn when and how to jump in for his attack. I see him improving a lot, proving himself in his GATTI fight instead of this fight, and then getting his mega fight against Mayweather in early 2007... and winning it if he improves his defence and timing.

yeah i think he needs to go back to 140. i didn't get the hbo talk about him being a possible opponet for oscar, oscar woln't come down to 147 and is like 5'10. hatton sure as hell doesn't belong at 154 and even looks small at 147, he's only 5'6.

Hatton was NOT looking past Collazo or underestimating him. Please do not use that as an excuse.

Hatton is a very smart, likeable and intelligable guy. And has articulated HIMSELF in many many interviews that he was definitely not looking past Collazo.

yeah he was saying how collazo would be a difficult opponent and expected some trouble before the fight.

I agree, that is the only thing that this fight showed. If he had trouble with Collazo, he will have trouble with any fighter at 147, including Gatti, Judah, Margarito and especially Mayweather.
