The guy is near 52 years old and fought arguably the best LHW in the world in his last fight, something pro fighters half his age are scared to do! Just being able to compete against even fringe contenders would be a huge accomplishment at his age, let alone sharing the ring with Kovalev.
Mayweather went out against much weaker competition than Hopkins in Andre Berto at more than a decade younger than Hopkins and people call him the best ever. Give me a break.
Hopkins has done, at his age, what most could never do in their entire career which is compete against legitimate contenders and world champions and not get viciously knocked out.
His career has been historic and record breaking. It amazes and disgusts me at the same time how supposed fans of the sport could criticize someone who has done what for any other fighter would be next to impossible. What have you ever done? List your incredible achievements in any capacity in any field and then you can **** on Hopkins.

Yeah, it's easy to call Kovalev a cry baby behind a computer isn't it? That's the problem with the internet, all the cowardly mongoloids who have no guts, class or integrity can say whatever they want and never suffer the consequences.
I'd love to see you say something like that to Kovalev's face. I can see you shaking like a baby, crying a river and wetting yourself simultaneously while you try to muster the courage to get the words out of your pathetic trash filled mouth.

I would say this to Floyd, Manny, Cotto, and Juan Manuel Marquez too: Your time has come and gone! You have contributed much to the legacy of the sport, but at this point, you can do nothing but destroy what you fought so hard to build. RETIRE!
The only fighter you mentioned who is close to Bernard's age is Marquez and currently Manny is still arguably the best welterweight out there but Floyd? Come on now. Mayweather has done nothing positive for the sport. He has done serious damage to pro boxing with his horribly self righteous, narcissistic personality and shady business moves that allowed him to dodge what would've been the toughest fights of his career in order to protect his 0 and cement his bloated paydays with dull and sedated performances.
Secondly, Floyd made a career out of utilizing the corruption of boxing and it's lack of enforcement by having control of the parameters of his biggest fights. No participant in an pro sport should be able to manipulate the rules and regulations of such a sport to cater to their own personal preference, thereby creating a handicap and terms that work in their favor.
Of course, other fighters have taken advantage of the problems inherent in pro boxing but never to the extent that Mayweather did.
Why do you think this fight is egotistical on Bernard's behalf? I don't even understand what that means. Are you saying Bernard's ego is obscuring the fact that he could be seriously hurt in this fight or do you think he has no chance of winning? As much as Joe Smith Jr is young and has power, what makes him more of a threat than Kovalev was? I would understand your comments if it referred to someone like Roy Jones since he has been knocked out multiple times and is nowhere near able to compete on a high level anymore. For a 50+ year old man, Hopkins conducted himself incredibly well against Kovalev (ie: did not get knocked out). Bernard is old but he has taken very little damage for someone with such a long career and has never been knocked out.
If Hopkins wins or even goes the distance without taking any serious damage will you still say his decision to fight was egotistical?

Joe smith is just showing confidence like he should be. And go check out B-hops resume of his first 23 fights and you probably wont know not one name. I just pray the old man don't get seriously hurt or killed in there. he shouldn't even be able to get licensed anymore.

Typical B-Hop taking on a challenge like this at 51 f***ing years old! This Smith dude iced Fonfara in one round and The Executioner is up for the challenge, one more time! I can't imagine Hopkins' ability to absorb punches at 51 is that great still, GO B-HOP!
