It's a shame, he's got a high pedigree of talent. I thought Angulo/Lara was a fun fight, and I think Golovkin/Lara would also be a fun fight. Lara/Canelo was boring partly due to Canelo's inability to cut off the ring. But Lara's made his bed by fighting the likes of Rodriguez, Smith, Zaveck, and Foreman. Taking those safe fights and not getting those guys out, he's limited his marketability.

Lara could've easily fought Alfonso Blanco and beat him, and he'd be in the top of the MW picture with Golovkin right now. Does he really want it though?

How in the world does beating Alfonso Blanco get you to the top of the middleweight picture?

If you mean in the WBA rankings, like someone said, that would have made him a mandatory for Jacobs, not Golovkin. And since Golovkin is a super champion, Golovkin only needs to defend his belt every 18 months. He would have to wait 2 years for Golovkin's next mandatory defense.

Lara is not gonna give up only leverage at jr middlewight, his super WBA 154 belt, for a fraction of a chance Golovkin will fight him for $500k at middleweight in 2 years.

Looks like the Jermell is on the table for his next fight after Foreman. And Jrock fight seems likely if he beats Jermall.

Jacobs has never faced a mandatory, and if he doesn't face Golovkin next then the holder of the WBA interim belt will. What leverage is it that Lara holds at JMW? The leverage to fight Foreman, Martirosyn, Zaveck, Rodriguez, and Ishe Smith? Lara doesn't even fight top guys at JMW either b/c he doesn't want to or they don't want to fight him. Some leverage.

If Lara was GGG's mando, I think he'd be going through the same negotiation process that Jacobs' is and probaby expect the same type of money that Jacob's already officially been offered ($1.5mill), which $500k more than his highest career payday, so yeah it sounds like he'd come out ahead.

And if you don't like the Blanco approach, then Lara could've fought Jorge Heiland for the WBC #1 spot, or went after Tureano Johnson for the IBF top spot. Fighting Yuri Foreman though is a sure way to get him no where.......

Lara is used to getting $1 mil per cab driver, so who could blame him?

Andrade made out pretty clear he's only fighting Lara as a last resort. He's not fighting either charlo and canelo not going to give him another shot. There's nothing left for him at 154 unless jrock beat charlo and he tries to unify that belt. I think jrock is a fighter who's willing to take all challengers but if that doesn't happen why stick around 154. He should move up and make himself a mando to ggg.
