The fight was a slug fest, and Vitali lost.

Suggesting the points in a 6 round fight were more important and telling than the damage that resulted in the stoppage of the fight is idiotic.

When your face is beaten to a bloody pulp and you're stopped, being ahead on points in a 6 rounds points means nothing.

This is a ****** thread, one which the haters flock to, not surprisingly. If you take the worst couple moments of any fighter's career and try to define him by it, then you look foolish.

As for the Lennox fight, the only cut which led to the stoppage was the eyelid cut- a tearing type cut which was caused in a freakish manner by the side of Lennox's glove as it sc****d his eye. A definite lucky break as Lennox was behind on all cards and would've needed a huge second half of the fight to pull off the win.

With this scenario, you always see an immediate rematch. The fact that Lennox turned down 20 mil for the rematch speaks volumes.

        Get over it.
Vitali lost because of his cut but was winning the fight on points and when Lewis went to the crowd after the fight to recieve acclaim for the win from the crowd there were boo's, when Vitali went to the crowd there was cheering and applause. I think that says a lot about how the fight was going.

He continued to land on the cut, and caused 4 others.

Vitali's plan of taking shots to land them is what lost him the fight. Had it continued, it's also what would have been the telling factor.

He was taking a horrible beating to his head and face, and that was by far the bigger factor than the points. Suggesting he could have continued to eat shots like that for 12 rounds is non sense.

Exactly, the body laguage of Lennox was that of a defeated fighter who caught a break and was relieved, but the crowd boo'd when they announced Lennox as the winner, and Vitali (a relative unknown at the time) got huge cheers and applause.

Yep, Lennox was really defensive in the post fight interview as well.

Funny, the look on Vitali's face didn't look like that of someone who won anything.

But none of the other cuts were factors, just the eyelid one... which was a tear, actually, not a cut. Lennox was the only one hurt in the fight, Vitali had taken everything and was raring to go, looking to me like the stronger fighter by far. Lennox would've had to win 5 of the next 6 to win, which was doubtful. That freak side-of-the-glove cut luckily won him the fight and saved his legacy.

Lennox knew it, that's why he left all that money behind and retired. He had announced he would fight 3 more times, remember? One fight with Vitali, and the prospect of a rematch was enough to make him change his mind, lose those promised millions and retire for good.

Vitali was screaming for the fight to continue (even though his face so badly cut) because he knew he was winning the fight...but there's really no point in arguing with you as you obviously have your opinion and nothing will change that...which is fair enough i suppose, even though you are wrong

Yes, I agree, you should've seen lennox smiling like a little child when he saw the replay and when the fight ended, he knew he got lucky, of course he's not gona say that cuz nobody would if they were at Lennox's position, Lennox doesn't even smile most of the time when he wins fights...
