We do not know what would have happened in the next 6 rounds. He might have gone blind ... By the way, a TKO is a legitimate way to win a match.

He had Lewis stunned in the second. But he got the cut in the third so had four more rounds to finish the job and failed.
Lewis came on strong later in the fight (as he often did).
