The thing is boxing fans know that McGregor would be horribly embarrassed by anyone ranked in the top 15-20 of their division. But not a lot of other people know that. Certainly not a large percentage of MMA fans. Definitely not the vast majority of Conor McGregor fans.

Could Conor himself be deluded enough not to get that? He fell well short at the amateur level as a kid so you would think he sees the distance between him and top level pros. But maybe he doesn't. Having the whole world talking about him could make him believe some crazy things.

Use common sense. Pacquiao probably makes about 20 or 30 times as much money per fight as McGregor. If McGregor was a good enough boxer to beat Pacquiao he wouldn't be an MMA fighter. He would be a boxer and be making the same kind of money Pacquiao makes. McGregor is probably the best boxer in MMA. The idea that he could beat any world class boxer his weight in a boxing match is ridiculous. He would beat Pacquiao in an MMA fight but Pacquiao would absolutely slaughter him in a boxing match.

The only MMA fighter who can hang with a Pro boxer is Frankie Edgar! He has solid boxing fundamentals, great movement and uses angles very well. That being said, even him has no change with a top 3 in his weight division!
