Boxing is not fighting, how can people not get there head around this. All the traditional footwork, the boxing high guard, bob and weave is pretty much useless for the most part. How is someone who has never ever trained in takedown defense, going to defend against a world class fighter who shoots for a takedown, and the traditional boxing footwork sets fighters up completely for front leg kicks, is why they dont have a conventional stance in mma. ANd being on the end of them is pretty crippling if you dont know how to properly brace your leg for it.

If boxing was the be all and end all in mma, then why would people even bother learning the other disciplines, just ridiculous. Even tyson fury changed his mind (probably the most confident boxer going) and said he would only fight in a hybrid style fight in mma cause he knows hes got no chance in normal rules. This type of boxing v mma crap seems to pop up weekly now and im fed up of this nonsense being perpetuated.
I have to agree with the DramaShow. Well rounded fighters would beat boxers in a street fight. That doesn't mean we can't love our sport.

Besides having grown up beating people in the street, which a lot of boxers have done, Duran, Pacquiao etc (thus stupid to call a boxer not a fighter), Golovkin wrestled for 7 years and frequently has wrestling sessions in training camp with much bigger guys. Golovkin is bigger than Mcgregor, stronger, Mcgregor stands no chance whatsoever in the stand-up, and he'd got tossed around like a doll in a clinch by Golovkin in a street fight. A street fight isn't controlled, you're not trying to outbox anyone, people seem to have this stupid idea that a boxer would come out like he would in a boxing fight, he wouldn't, straight for the knockout, you're filled with rage in a street fight, you're controlled in a sanctioned bout.

BTW. Mayorga won his MMA debut, it was changed into a NC because he knee'd the guy in the spine whilst he was going for an arm-bar. Apparently things got too real in there.
He missed also the fact that Mcgregor is a striker, which he fights in the pocket and doesn't wrestle, and against a fighter like GGG, good luck doing that.

a hard surface makes a lot of mma technique more risky than useful....i'd like these guys to go for takedowns when missing it means hitting your knees in the floor, getting pushed means slamming your head against a wall....the way some of these mma guys fight strikers is aided by the soft mat. dropping on their back for jiu jitsu, keeping their body low as **** and scraping the floor until they get the takedown....do the fight in a parking lot and a boxer with good legs never gets touched, he would make the meathead look like ronda against holly......most mma guys have grandma knees because even the soft mats are punishing on their joints...let them hit their knees against the pavement and lets see how long their stamina lasts. Gennady is as big or bigger and has a wrestling background....he would crush him.

As if McBumgor would have all that space to move around in a bar or at backyard bbq party. Golovkin would smack that punk around like a little hoe.

You gotta give McGregor the edge obviously in a street fight, because MMA is much closer related to actual street fighting than boxing is -- that said, homeboy better hope Gennady doesn't get off. Because if he does, and lands, it's night night for McGregor. And McGregor might never wake up, either.

A good mma fighter will always beat a good boxer in either a mma fight OR a street fight.

They have so much more options than a boxer.

Boxers can only punch, or if they are Floyd or ward they can only run, and hug.

Point taken, but let's not act now as if boxers are completely foreign to street fighting. A lot of these guys grew up fighting on the streets. Hasn't Gennady even admitted that he learned to fight on the streets?
