No, he didn't. That's how he got his PPV prediction, not the actual numbers.

I think Motorcity Cobra made a thread awhile where you guess the Postol/Crawford , Canelo/Smith & Ward/Kov numbers and I think I put down 305 for the Ward fight because I thought there's enough actual boxing fans that it would outdo that heaping pile of sh.it Canelo /Smith which I pegged at like 275-300

I was wrong hardcore boxing fans are cheap bastards. If your not going to come out of pocket for this then don't cry when you get mismatched garbage.
        Well said my good man...

Heh, the mismatch that was Canelo-Khan did like 650k... Ridiculous...

        • So Ward vs Kov did better than GGG vs Lemieux?

          Hmmmm

No. That's how he gets his actual buy rates.

LAS VEGAS BoxingScene.com has confirmed a Tweet by Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole that the Andre Ward-Sergey Kovalev pay-per-view show drew just over 160,000 buys. The figure is considered low for an HBO Pay-Per-View event that featured two of the five best pound-for-pound boxers in the world.

              • WELL we should be thankful because NOT MANY people saw the robberies that happen in boxing, it stained the image of boxing. ESPN still ranks Kovalev higher as most media and fans had Kovalev winning. No one knows who Ward is except for the guy who got dropped like a sack of potatoes. ran for 10 rounds and got hometown cooking so it's good not many people saw it.

                • Lol at people surprised and disappointed at the PPV numbers. We're back in the dark ages for boxing. Fighters are getting overpaid for lackluster fights. Promoters are trying to put the safest fights out there for the most money for their fighters which creates **** fights and disappointed casual fans and casual fans are what keeps the sport in the mainstream. And what happens when you actually have a good fight like this one? No one gives a ****. Andre Ward isn't a marketable fighter. He may have shown his ability to fight back through adversity in this fight, but his work prior to this one didn't necessarily have casual fans clamoring for his next fight.

200k people post on this website. why 160k buys?

which of you didn't suppor this fight? 40K of you at the very least, and that's if only people who post on bscene are allowed to buy the PPV .

do duva and RN really need to market to you, the guys posting on a boxing forum at 3:00pm on a monday? or are you slipping a bit in your fan duties if you're not buying boxing's ultimate fight?

keep in mind that there was no better fight to be made in boxing. and it flopped. think about that for a minute, particularly in the context of the message that sends to promotors and networks.

how much do you really care about boxing if you didn't order this fight? i'm definitely not made of money. i went to the fight. when i got home i ordered the fight so i could score it before the HBO replay came out. that's how much i appreciated what these guys were willing to do, and what the promotors were trying to do. i'm not sure you can call yourself a fan of boxing if you could afford to pay for this one, and diudn't. nothing wrong with keepingyour priorities where they should be. i have no family, and i'm only responsible for me. if you need to spend money elsewhere, then spend it by all means on the important stuff. but if you call yourself a real fan, and you could buy this fight, but you didn't, then i question your love of the game, and your understanding of what the promotors were trying to do here. they trhew you a bone, and you shunned them. and don
't get mad when they sell you guerrero and victor oriz, or 9000 year old shane mosley and chris algieri.
This sums it up.... boxing fans can't complain when they get sold crap fights now, since they won't pay for the good ones.

Brilliant post by the way man.

                    • Wow that's way below the minimum. What a shame, they both deserved more. But I guess a lot of boxing fans turned their back to Ward sooner or later. I did the first time I saw him, when he busted Mikkel Kesslers vision for the rest of his life.
