Required? Roc Nation is his promotional company. Promotional companies work to get a fighter big fights, they don't REQUIRE you to fight certain fighters. Maybe if you said HBO...you would have a better leg to stand on. Promoters protect their fighters for future revenue....not feed them to killers like Kovalev.

I got the impression it was 50/50 at 168, and GGG's team said no to 168, counter-proposing 164, which is when it went south.

If so, then they just couldn't get to common ground, end of story.

GGG's team are looking like the smart ones now. Whatever the terms, Ward with American judges on American soil wins - doesn't matter what happens in the ring (unless Golovkin KO's him under circumstances where they can't find a reason to DQ Golovkin).
