No Ward, this did not happen early 2016. It happened in late summer of 2015. At time Ward said he'd be ready by fall of 2016. K2 said they hadn't plans throughout 2016, and could discuss this again early 2017. Considering at the time k2/GGG had a legit chance at Getting titles from a Lemiuex, Canelo/Cotto winner, and Lee, they were not lying about being busy and having a **** at unification.

As we know, Lee was beat by Suanders, who hordes the title, and Canelo vacated rather than face GGG. Lemieux fight did get done.

Additionally, Ward didn't do just one tune up. He needed two. And he didn't make getting the fight done easy on Kov's team, who ended up with less money and the deck stacked against them.

yes. wards talks about Golovkin, but Golovkin doesn't. is always the people around him. i think that's the only interview where he talks about the subject. did ward or his people release the famous e-mail or what?

I wish people would read the article b4 commenting, it was a question in an interview and he gave a detailed answer - he didn't throw anyone under the bus, he stated facts - he and GGG will always be linked like Mayweather and Pacquiao - he was ready and willing - the other side had a vision and the fight did not fit the vision until 2018 another 2 years from now - so Dre was supposed to stick around 168?? No, he went after a bigger challenge - like all Olympic medalists do, they challenge themselves , they understand that you have to fight top opposition it's the only way to be truly ready...

And no, they didn't tell him 2018, they said maybe early 2017 (after they sorted out the Canelo, Suanders, and Lemiuex titles). Ward at time said early fall of 2016. They were about a half of a year apart on time line, but Ward felt entitled to fight a MW so he just keeps talking.

People ask him sure, it's because he makes statements and then doesn't give full details. He threatened to have emails even when K2 confirmed that the said no until early 2017. Ward for some reason won't produce.
