Sure. Walters can do whatever he wants. Quit? That's fine. Just don't expect $300,000 paydays anymore or anytime soon at least.

He lost his leverage. And he can't complain when he gets offered a lot less his next few fights.

Fans are the ones paying. And quitting for the most part is viewed negatively. They are in a sport where it invites praise and criticism for your performance. So Walters needs to suck up the criticism.

Fans would accept a fighter who quit but gave 100%. If the guy shaken up, bloodied, or received some blows. ...and visibly had no chance of winning.

But Walters flat out quit after 1 round where he was clearly getting outclassed. The other 6 were clear Loma rounds but were competitive.

Yup! I second that. Dude didn't even look hurt at all. Roberto Duran is an ALL-TIME Great but most ppl know him more as "No MAS" then anything else he's done in the ring.

Duran is probably the greatest lightweight fighter ever, but that doesn't stop people who would never enter a boxing ring, or even look at him the wrong way, from calling him a quitter. That alone tells me all I need to know about people who call world class fighters/top 10 greats names.

Staying on topic though, Walters had absolutely nothing for Lomachenko, who was simply fantastic. He can blame the inactivity all he wants, but as a world class fighter, he knows the risks every time he steps in the ring. If he wasn't prepared and his opponent was, it's his fault. He should accept that people are going to be heavily critical, and just plan to impress his next time out.

That's what he's paid for.

And you're starting to attack people for not knowing boxing, well I have to question how much boxing you've seen if you think that 7th round was a beating worth quitting over. That wasn't even the worst beating a fighter has taken in a round in the last week. Thousands of fighters have recovered from worst than that to win fights. Chavez Jr. took 12 rounds of that and nearly beat Martinez in the 12th.

It's a new low for him to blame this performance on ring rust when he just did an interview claiming that the layoff wouldn't affect him.

He is talking out his ass , his corner wanted him to keep going it was he himself that said no more it was all show on the telecast , he flat out quit cold .

He was just out classed and he knew he was getting stopped so he quit instead .

Ohh I agree he's an ALL-TIME GREAT!!! But him and Leonard are probably asked everyday about the "No Mas" Fight.

Fans have a short term memory and he can go on to do good/great things. I just don't see it. He's looking worse and worse every fight. Guys like Sosa and Marriaga shouldn't of went the distance with the Walters I saw in the Donaire and Darchinyan fights. I don't know what it is?? Maybe it's inactivity?? Maybe lazyness. I mean he lost a belt on the scales of all places. He's usually much bigger than the guys he fights. SHT maybe he should go back to 126 and then blow back up on fight night??
