So youre negotiating and you have the upper hand...WHY WOULDNT YOU USE THAT? If you can negotiate a better deal for a tough fight, why wouldnt you do that? You should fire your team if they arent trying to look out for you to the best of their ability. His team SHOULD try to always get the best possible deal that is possible, they are gonna sell more PPV'S this time so he should ask for more he is the CHAMPION. He's gonna stop Kovalev next time, because him and his trainer keep baiting Kov with their talk and Kov is already talking about looking for a ko, he's the bully and Ward was daring him to fight on the inside and Kov declined the offer. Now kov will probably go balls to the wall and his pride will get the best of him trying to fight Ward on the inside to have a chance at a KO, and he's gonna lose that battle. Theres a reason why kov was grabbing Ward everytime Ward tried to get on the inside. He knew/or found out that Ward is a better inside fighter than him.

"... no one is completely sure Ward is even still with Roc Nation — there were strong rumors leading up to the bout that Al Haymon, the shadowy “adviser” who has scooped up nearly every major fighter in boxing, was about to take over Ward, as well — although a Roc Nation spokesman assured me on Tuesday that Ward was still in the fold.

No one will know for sure until the pay-per-view numbers come out, but it is likely Roc Nation lost a significant chunk of money with its guarantee to Ward, since the odds are strongly against Ward-Kovalev having done good PPV numbers."
Interesting & for sure RN lost money on this fight I gotta think.

I think Ward needs to honor the rematch agreement. It will go a long way in cementing his legacy not to play games.

According to Duva the rematch can take place anywhere except Oakland or Russia.

Roc Nation/Ward are the lead promoter for the rematch: Roc Nation picks the venue (assuming that the "No California or Russia" clause exists, RN's preferred venue in NY or Vegas has inside track on the fight), Roc Nation leads the talks with the commission, Roc Nation gets to set up fight week the way they want to set it up, Roc Nation doles out the media credentials, etc.

Assuming that all of the core financial terms of the deal were lied out in the initial contract, Andre Ward is making it absolutely clear that Main Events isn't dictating anything to them in the second fight.

-Kovalev got $2m as his guarantee, with the rest coming off of the upside on the event; between the over 13k announced in attendance at T-Mobile and the PPV hopefully doing okay, Kovalev will likely end up making north of $4m once everything is counted.

Kovalov seems like the old school type of fighter who will go anywhere and everywhere for a fight. Even if it's in Oak-Town with Wards getting double Kov. will sign the fight. He might even go against HBO to get his babies back...
