Comments Thread For: Ward: Kovalev's Team Must Realize Rematch Talks Will Be Different

WBO, WBA, IBF light heavyweight champion Andre Ward (31-0, 15KOs) has yet to confirm the existence of an immediate rematch clause, but former beltholder Sergey Kovalev (30-1-1, 26KOs), and his promoter Main Events, are adamant about their contractual right to an immediate second fight.

Is his right hand gonna make an appearance? I don't know but even with these adjustments I'm hearing about the fight is still based around Kovalev's jab. And that's why I'm leaning kovalev.

They're sending Kovalev to J-Oakland, the usual Oracle Arena

In other words, Ward is saying, "I'm the A side". I mean his coach said he received 5 mil and Kov received 2 mil, so he's getting the lion's share anyways.

oh he's speaking on the rematch talks? ah hell, I'm expecting your typical contractual bs. I wouldn't be suprised if the fight takes place in oakland, but duva has to plead for international refs.

what a clown, he got everything - US judges, the referee, US soil, money and home decision. Stop acting like you had to make concessions. He will never fight him in Russia with Russian judges, but Kova did...Andre wants to fight in Okland and would take 80% split to make Kovalev miserable...

lol i said people shouldnt count on there being a rematch. Wards got that 'win', he knows he lucked out with the decision and he will not be doing it again. Ward doesnt take risks in the ring and he will try and minimise them outside the ring. Theres always a way round these 'clauses'
