Well to just scrap your theory. Every fight doesn't employ the same strategy. It's called adjustments. To say WARD didn't do it to BERRERA but did it to another fighter is plain ******. Obviously he had no respect for BERRERA POWER. Obviously to negate KOVALEV power you get on the inside to stop his power. Why would he trade and stand in front of KOVALEV. In the same way KOVALEV is not going to fight in a phone booth against WARD. It's called the SWEET SCIENCE for a reason. Everybody is going to do THE GATTI type fights man. More to boxing than just K.O.'s
Kovalev held 54 times..where is the uproar?

It was a TON of Headlocks in that fight, it got sloppy at times but I thought Byrd did great keeping things under control despite people trying to blame him
He didn't want Ward to get inside and did what he can to prevent it and I have no problem with Kovalev trying to do what he had to do to win the fight that is boxing. But I also don't ***** and complain about Ward or Wlad or B-Hop or Ricky Hatton inside rugged style either that is part of boxing. As long as they RELEASE when the Ref call them to Release which they usually do then NO it is NOT illegalLast edited by sicko; 11-25-2016, 01:14 PM.Comment

I think some videos can give off different stories, depending on what the video's author wants to show.
For example, 1 minute 13 seconds into this guys video (below), he shows a still pic of Kovalev holding Ward in a headlock. The video rolls from there, the ref is splitting them up and the guy's voice over describes it as another instance of Kovalev holding/headlocking.
But on the original video he's taking the still from (below). At that point of the fight (the still), if you watch it from 5 minutes 25 seconds, a few seconds before the still picture is taken. Ward is shook by a jab, so ducks down low and grabs Kovalev around the waist with both hands. He starts the hold on Kovalev as he's recovering from a punch, yet the guy in the top video has took a still of this a few seconds on (bypassing Ward's hold) and described it in the voice over as Kovalev initiating holding and head-locking.
Which isn't a true indication of what really happened.

but then people will complain that the ref interjected...
ward is thought of as some great inside fighter but he really is a cheap inside fighter.
there's a way to fight inside without excessively clinching and holding the way ward does it....
there's a way to be defensive without using excessive spoiling tactics that just drain any entertainment value from the fight.Comment
